Kaduna Schools Will Not Close Before Easter: El-Rufai

According to a post on the Governor's Page quoted below:

Good Friday and Easter Monday are established public holidays, they are mandatory and are declared by the Federal Government.
Pupils and students in Kaduna State will go on Easter Holiday and Good Friday and Easter Monday. It is falsehood and baseless blackmail to suggest that schools must end the second term before Easter.
The school term is not a religious issue. The tendency to place a religious hue on everything is irresponsible. Pupils in Kaduna State will have their Easter break on the prescribed public holidays and return to school to conclude the second term. The curriculum is based on a 12-week term. The schools resumed for second term on 18 January and will complete the 12 weeks in April. Kaduna State will not curtail its school term to 10 weeks. Education cannot be abridged to appease prejudice.

    1. @anonymous 9.32pm, The Almighty God will visit him for good because the Governor make good point with what he said. 12 weeks for a term not 10 weeks for a term before vacation. The governor is right. He is not again the break and he is not fighting the Christian in Kaduna but he said they have to complete their 12 weeks in school before the holiday.

    4. I understand your emotions, but leadership goes beyond that.

Imagine Easter was mid March, would we request for the academic calendar to be cut short from 12wks to 8-9wks?

Respect the breaks to observe them & don't create institutions out of them.

  4. Easter break is a public holiday and l don't think it should determine the end of an academic term.

There is no issues in this particular matter as long as the holiday is granted by the governor.
Let us not over reacted in this issue and missed it with other issue.

The governor should respect Christianity in his state. That is another issue

  6. As if El Rufai has the interest of the Students in mind. El Rufai pay N5,000 to unemployed first. May be after the 12 weeks of study in your state they will begin to produce toothpick, and a lot of things we import because they have completed their curriculum. Rubbish. Just be fooling yourself thinking you are fooling Nigerians.

  7. El Rufai is creating problems & troubles for himself & his state. When has school academic calendar become mingled with public holidays. What happened in Kaduna state has happened b4 without qualms, why is it an issue now. El Rufai should repent and be sensible in governance

There are no binary perceptions about the fact that rice is, by far, the most important food crop in the world, and is often an inextricable part of many cultures. Not surprising then that the most consumed grain on the planet occupies a persistent place not just on the dinner table, but also in our fertile imagination.
