The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff, on Thursday revealed that Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and “other Nigerians” worked for his emergence.
Sheriff spoke at the Ekiti PDP’s secretariat in company with Fayose where he met leaders and members of the party in the state.
He said, “I never planned to be the PDP Chairman but God used people like Fayose and other Nigerians to make me the chairman (of the party).
“I was sleeping in my room when Fayose called me from Port Harcourt and said I was going to be the new National Chairman. For me, it was a miracle.
“God chose Fayose for Ekiti people because of his popularity in the state. He was taken to the prison and eight years after, he came back. People won’t be happy with the governor if he has not been fair to them.”
Fayose said he supported Sheriff to become the PDP chairman because he had the capacity to rebuild the party.
He said, “We know you have the capacity to restore the PDP and make it survive.
“You have the means and experience and we promise that we will always stand by you.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
