The Chancellor of Landmark University, Omu Aran, Kwara state, Bishop David Oyedepo, has challenged the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari to be more sensitive to issues that affect ordinary nigerians saying that things have not been working well.
Oyedepo, also the founder of Living Faith Church worldwide,a.k.a Winners Chapel further described the socio-economic challenges in the nation as those borne out of systemic failure, adding that there is no point blaming any political party or individual for the current travails Nigeria is facing .
The clergyman cum academician spoke with journalists in Omu Aran at the fifth founder's day celebration of the private university he estaablished in Omu Aran, his country home.
According to him,"Our problem is a systemic problem not political or leadership problem and we must find solution to it. Nigeria will not go down the drain, we will proffer solution to it."
"The present administration should be more sensitive to issues that affect ordinary people, because things had not been working well."
He noted that,"Where we are today is not where we should be. The effect of the forex has a lot to do with small scale industries and that is where the bulk of Nigeria employment is."
"Anybody can make mistakes but if people in the authority are not sensitive to the cry of the people, we would keep making more mistakes. My understanding is that it is never late to be right. If a decision is made and we discovered it is not right we should do an informed review." he added.
Oyedepo also said, "What am saying is that things have not been working and we are all aware of it. There is no point pointing accusing finger. Each individuals in the country also have a lot to play to recover the dignity of our nation".
He however stressed that, "The challenges have been with us for many years, it didn't just happen now. Government should be sensitive on issue that affect everybody."
"We have been fighting over the issue of power for many decades now. Government should have its priority. They should itemise the fundamentals that can move Nigeria forward and commit to it. "He added.
He noted that,"We don't have to have the resources, if we have the platform for investors to come in because they are more in touch with the issues."
"Look at the present fuel problem. It used to be black market but now we have black stations and they have the right to sell at any price because they are private marketers but the government still need to come out and take a decision on it".
Oyedepo also said, "Solution should not be only thinking, we should go beyond thinking to reasoning, logical, rational and analytical reasoning by identifying the issues and proffer possible way out of the problem.
"Nigeria problems is all about cost effective solution that will come out of sound reasoning. Remember the people in government are from us. So, we are all in government since they are not foreigners. So each one of us has a role to play. Private bodies should be allowed in all other areas of the country just like we have in the education sector. "He stressed.
He further said that,"Nigerians need to take responsibility of our challenges and find solutions to them because we have nowhere else to go. We should not sit down and cast blames."
"We have to be committed in finding the solution and stop the blame game even though government has a major role to play, each one of us also has roles to play. People will not listen to a critique but a consult who are thinking value addition taught. We learn from other nations efforts in solving problems."he added. The ordinary Nigerians are suffering. Present decision of the FG to inject 350B naira into the economy is in the right direction. I pray it affects Nigerians as a whole.
ReplyDeleteBIAFRA IS THE ONLY WAY OUT.
ReplyDeleteTell them Bishop. But bind them first from the spirit of blaming others but themseves for every problem so that they will realise that they have tasks to accomplish. Also bind them from the spirit of lies and propaganda. Oroboshoromatayamama.! Fire Devil is a Liar!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you are telling the truth Mr bishop. Why didn't you say this during the time of Jonathan.
ReplyDeleteAll this Nigerian dog collar rogues parading themselves as pastors, bishops and God's prophets taking money daily from struggling and impoverished worshippers but gives nothing back to them.Churches running very expensive academic institutions, having no meaningful employment programmes or assistance but constantly demanding worshippers pay tithes.Only in a rogues filled nation like Nigeria are equally heartless self styled bishops, pastors and apostles are respected and worshipped
ReplyDeleteU are extremely wrong bros.... Don't be aggrieved bcoz of peanut u are getting from politicians or you dummy religion belief .......
DeleteThose pastors and bishops are investing spiritually into people's lives.... Do you know how many people they employed in those their schools u are referring to?...... If these politicians can set up businesses & industries, won't you & ur family members get employed? That's why God is blessing & prospering their members and they get money from their businesses to pay tithes & offerings..... . Mind you, those members are not forced or hypnotized to give those tithes & offerings.....they give willingly & joyfully..
You are a dead living already!
DeleteMumu na so Jesus did? Well am not supprised cos most of you gullible ones following this modern self styled pastors sheepishly are already hypnotised. How did most of the Nigerian pastors start?. For example almost everyday now miracles are happening in one crusade or the other. Yes real live changing miracles. Miracles because here are young struggling poor men and on daily basis people are gathered contributing money. They are being transformed from the ravaging poverty to the stupendous wealth you see being displayed. That is the miracle. It all depends on the eye with which you see the miracle and the miracle to whom it has happened to. Therefore to the ordinary poor congregation they would have to go home and pray for their own miracle. And for those already ready they have to sow more seed and tithe for more blessings. The devil is a liar! Orobosoyobakatayamama!. Fire!.It is left for you to prayerfully think over this so that God can liberate you I PRA y in Jesus name. Amen.
DeleteIs dat all u wanna say?........ Who is dead living betwin you & me?.. ... You are blessed of the Lord with dat statement of your..... Bcoz, if I declare to you with the same statement....... It shall be so instanta..
DeleteHe said it, na u no read am then....
ReplyDeleteLet me ask you,was it as hard like this during Jonathan? Answer yes or no brother... This govt has bin blaming pass govt for one year now.... It is now dey wake up with Economy summits... Thanks to Prof Soyinka's advice...
Do you know how many analyses VP Osibanjo gave with projector illustrations during APC campaigns?..... All he promised to spear head the economy drive if pple can vote 4dem? He's there now, he couldn't do anything.....
We are not saying pass administrations did well but dis current one should tie their belts well & get to work...
Pass administration was driving economy more than this.... That was the reason they could have more money to steal... Let this administration that is not ready to steal gets up to work & drive the economy likewise..... God bless Nigeria, Amen.
Only in Nigeria religious leaders become political commentators. Why won't you Mr Bishop lead by example by attacking all issues with prayers just like you preach to your members. If you find Mr president insensitive why not pray for him to be sensitive to Nigeria problems.
ReplyDeleteFred, don't be minding editorial captions in Nigeria dailies.. .. Read the body first & deduce the header. In doz statement where his words are quoted directly, he only said "the govt should be more sensitive" I didn't read where he said, govt is insensitive.
DeleteMaybe the key to the hell he promised he will use against Buhari's supporters during campaign for GEJ is more with him,
ReplyDeleteMr. Lecturer, don't teach me nonsense. You were part of the problems this nation is facing. Do I have to bring your knowledge back to your utterances during Jonathan's administration? If you're an anointed man of God, please, preach the truth not being partisan. All the dollars shared by CAN resulted into some of the problems being experienced by the masses. You sit your ass in an air condition office and fly about in a private jet collecting tithes and offering of the poor masses making them believe that breakthroughs didn't come their ways because they're not praying well. God's the ultimate judge of the rich and poor.
ReplyDeleteTruth is bitter, i am sure the people making stupid comments are APC supporters, Nigeria need to go forward and not all these politics game, it is time to face the truth, an urgent way forward is what Nigerians' need now
ReplyDeleteI do not understand why giving your own opinion either religion leaders or not is a serious issue in this country, how can this blame game help us?, Jonathan is busy taking awards internationally, we sit here blaming him, by the way i am not praying for what happen during GEJ happen again, but if not whats happening now will also be history tomorrow, Any leader, Buhari not exclusive who want to see success must be sensitive enough to the cry of the masses, IBB wasn't a good leader (his a military man in power, we didn't put him there), but that man is super sensitive to the voice of the nation. Buhari may borrow idea from such, only if he must see success. success in the face of the few, is lack of success to the nation.
ReplyDeletefifth founder's day celebration and three sets of graduates produced. what else can be called corruption when students earn a four year degree in two and a half years, producing graduates of less than 17 years of age. Bishop is one of the problems facing Nigeria.
