Buhari Does Not Have the Intellectual Capacity to Govern Nigeria - Prof. Nwabueze

Prof Ben Nwabueze, endowed Lawyer and President of the Patriots, claims that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot govern Nigeria properly.

Speaking during an interview session with THE SUN, Nwabueze said, "I do not think that it is a question of not being prepared. Don't forget that the 2015 election was his fourth time of contesting, of making an attempt at being President.

He tried to be president for 12 years. So, he had more than enough time to prepare himself if he had the capacity. So, it is not that he was not prepared. The fact is that he lacks the capacity to govern as the problems are beyond him.

''Even if you give him 20 years to prepare, it would still be beyond his capacity. Nigeria is a very complex country. I have told you before, that we have 389 ethnic nationalities.

The complexities and the issues involved in ruling such a country are huge. Leading such a complex country is an intellectual issue and Buhari does not have the intellectual capacity to comprehend what it means to govern the country"he said

    3. The truth is bitter. If you cannot withstand the truth, then you are a candidate for psychotherapy.

  2. Abah! This is too much an insult to an elder statesman. After all,he merely expressed his opinion.Or are you telling me that Nigerian situations were as dicey as this during the Jonathan regime you refered to??? Just look at the case of fuel scarcity and the value of Naira as a case study...Well,as events are unfolding...

  7. Sometimes i think that our old and respectable personalities should accord themselves the honour and respect of being silent in certain matters rather than exposing what others may mistakenly term their ignorance. Prof. Ben Nwabueze is a legal giant that should know when to talk and when to be silent. For now he ought to be silent.

  8. Please stop calling names here. The Prof is absolutely right in his comment about Buhari. Everyone knows that Buhari have a good intention, but to speak the honest truth he lacks the intellectual capacity to rule this Country. Fighting corruption is not the end of the road for Nigeria. We have bigger problems here and people with sound intellectual mind to move this country forward. Jonathan has it but lacks the leadership quality. That is why he lost control of his Government.

  9. Anonymous 3:29pm I don't think you have respect for the elderly. Calling a man of the age fools. You have placed a curse on yourself. Tell your Buhari to seat up. Should stop the blaming games

  13. Bcos d prof is an elder i won't join in using negative words agaist him but my question to him is "prof where are u when those with intellectual capacity ran this country to a state of mess like this". If u don't have anything positive to contribute please..........

  14. To think that GEJ is responsible for the current fuel scarcity and fall of the naira, one would think that some people think through their anus. I'm referring to all of u who think GEJ is d cause. The fact is.... U don't have brains to think for urselves. U all have heads like Tabular-rasa. Plain heads with no brains.

  15. Last time I checked buhari has done no good since assuming office rather he kept on commissioning gejs work. That is not intellectual. When ever his subjects speaks out loud for him to stop fooling around and he will accuse another person of stealing 300billion under gej that he gmb would have used to work.so what do u call that.

  16. I think buhari should run the loot collection department of efcc and let others run the country.

  17. It not all about PGEJ. As educated he is, He performed in his capacity to intellectually brightened Nigerian's and give common Nigerian freedom to live today. Wisdom is good and he applied it even when he lost the election. If we can tell ourselves truth and forget sentiment, party, and speak as a good Nigerian, then we can see truth in what professor ben said. Nigeria is a complex country unlike before, and the country needs a person that is God fearing in all senses, packaged with wisdom, very educated and experienced in virtually all parts of specialisation. Bihari is trying but he can't because he is yet to come to that point leadership experience.

  18. I honestly believe the publishers of this forum do moderate comments. The posted comments on this forum do not show good decorum or tolerance and respect to people's opinion. Prof. Ben is a seasoned intellectual and has a right to his own opinion. Buhari has a good intellectual in his Vice President and some other (quite few) persons in his cabinet. A good leader harnesses all the resources (human and so on)at his disposal, getting the best out of them for the best of the entire nation. He can NEVER KNOW IT ALL...No one can know it all actually. I opine that the President should get the best hands in the interest of the nation and work as a team to give the nation the promised change. Nigerians are expecting better than what we are currently getting

  19. Nigeria is currently at its lowest ebb and you are still praising your dump president Buhari who should be in the farm? Look at our naira for instance? You think Ngozi Iweala will not have checked the free fall of our naira or at least proffer solution? Is good to chase people that have stolen our money, but has this not being going on for decades? He should just sit up and talk to people who can move this country out of the quagmire we are into now. What is annoying is that the president don't even care. He busy flying from one part of the world to another.

  20. Do you have the capacity sir? Join a political party and contest for the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Word's cheap! Thanks that you admitted that Nigeria is a complex country to rule with different ethnic groups claiming marginalization each time things don't go their way.

  21. It is not about things going some people ways. It is about good governance and moving the country forward. He has dwell on the corruption fight for too long besides it is one sided fight. Sympathy and party feelings is good but not to bring the possible changes advocated. A man with a good vision will not surround himself with some of those he is having in his cabinet today. You read out policies to the nation from foreign land each time he travels and covers up with assumed new names or assumed findings of those connected or related to the purported fire arm acquisition. A leader must be vast having able high sounding minded men and women around about him. But party mentality imprisonment and ego will not allow him the opportunities of tapping into the realm of possibility. Yet there are those encouraging and cheering him to the grave. If President Buhari must achieve the positive dream Nigerians are expecting he should look and work beyond trading of blames on past governments especially on GEJ. Spare no corrupt ones but do it intelligently. The fight on corruption is very good, everyone welcomes it but at the same time attend to the economy of the nation, bring in people that have what it takes to proffer solution, companies are laying off staff and some are folding off, hardship everywhere. Running the country is not an easy job but you can make it easy if you want to.Thank you for your effort so far, but you can do better with a sincerity of heart and good intention. Generations shall remember you for what you are doing now whether for good or for bad. But be exceptional, be remembered for quality, dynamism, integrity and positive changes that will last the test of time.

  22. Easy guys.Lets show some respect here. Now I see reason the freedom of speech bill was almost amended. Why should we use abusive words to express ourselves? Haba my people. For me it is a lesson to all of us.Our country is complex, do not be quick to judging anyone in power, cos it might just be you the next time. The present situation is a clarion call for Nigerian youths to sit up and reclaim Nigeria. We have come to an era where our fathers should excuse us,and allow us do the rulling. No one should recycle anyone for us again. We need a revolution now or never..Rise up great Nigerian youths.

  23. Buhari is insulted all the time hear, I don't see anybody cautioning the other, so what makes this one special, is it because he's Igbo and PDP? If that's the reason, una never see anything
