Policeman slumps, dies during fitness exercise

A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) attached to the Ado Odo Divisional Headquarters, Mr. Bolade Agboola, slumped and died during a fitness exercise on Friday.

Agboola, who until his death was the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of the station, was said to have gone to a nearby Alamuwa Secondary School compound to join others in physical exercise when he collapsed and passed out.

He was reportedly rushed to a private hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors.

The deceased, according to close sources, was said to have returned from his hometown in Ekiti State a few days ago after a brief illness.

He was said to have been advised by doctors to engage in fitness exercise.

“The incident happened at about 7:.50am yesterday when Agboola went to Alamuwa Secondary School to exercise his body. He met a group of local footballers there and joined them in fitness training during which he suddenly slumped and could not be revived,” said a source who asked not to be named.

The body of the police officer has since been deposited in the mortuary.

    1. It's unfortunate that you can not see beyond your nose when it comes to public discuss. May you find a way in your parochial mind set to comment on issues based on its merit.

  2. That the doctors recommended a fitness exercise is not a license to engage in too rigorous activities like football, at least not immediately. The man should have started with ordinary walking or fetching water in a bucket or keg. He could then have gradually increase the pace to 10-15 minutes of jogging and like that until he is fit to do more energy sapping activities like football. Even at that, playing football should start with perhaps ten minute play from the first time for about a week or two then fifteen minutes and so on. People abuse fitness training too, for the reason that they want to be fit instantly or in too short a period, whereas it's a gradual thing. It's unfortunate that this man died this way. May his soul rest in peace.
