Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has apologised to Mass Communications students of the University of Lagos over the way they were treated during his 60th birthday celebrations.
The outspoken Senator, who apologised to the students via his Twitter handle, explained that he was constrained by the large turnout, which made it impossible for him to attend to everyone and resolve all issues promptly.
1-I read about the complaints of the students of the University of Lagos, Mass Comm. Dept over the treatment meted to them at #BenBruceAt60— Ben Murray-Bruce (@benmurraybruce) February 20, 2016

3-I apologize to the students for this treatment. I was seated at my table during the event & I could not have been everywhere #BenBruceAt60— Ben Murray-Bruce (@benmurraybruce) February 20, 2016

@benmurraybruce Clearly the students were not wanted there. Why invite them? Common Sense??they can see through cheap populism stunts— sango (@sangogbangba) February 20, 2016
The Senator had reportedly invited the students to his birthday party on Friday at the Eko Hotels in Lagos.
However, the students later accused him of discriminating against them by getting them to seat in the less glamourous section of the hall. The students added that they were served lower quality refreshment that “high profile guests” with some of them getting food in plastic plates.
Murray-Bruce had launched his book, The Commonsense Revolution, at the event, which had the likes of Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Senator Dino Melaye in attendance.
When it came to the distribution of the book, the students were shunned, another development that left several of them disappointed; more so because they had been invited to the event.
Murray-Bruce, however, explained that it was not just the students who didn’t get the books.
“My friends including UtomiPat did not get books either. I only knew after the event. The demand was high and they sold out,” he tweeted.
He assured the students that arrangements had been made for them to get copies of the book, adding that it was also available for download on his website. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Bruce can't manage just a party but shouting daily to gullible Nigerians that he has the knowledge and understanding to manage Nigeria with diverse needs and ethnicity.
ReplyDeleteDon't mind him. He his shouting common sense revolution now. Where was he in the last government, was he on exile or he is just stylishly playing tie opposition. Go to Bayelsa and asked about his legacies, you will find non. He should lead by example by solving any national problem within his own capacity. Then, we will, know and agree with his common sense whatever.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what will please Nigerian's. This man has employed more Nigerian's in his life-time than 3/4 of the members of the National assembly and has opened doors for many young Nigerian's with his beauty parents including Agbani Darego who went on to win Miss World. Nobody is above mistakes. Even in our own small parties we do, people complain later that they were not given food or not recognised. He is human and can make mistakes. Leadership is also being able to say sorry. How many times do our leaders say sorry.
DeleteThe problems with many Nigerians when they give comment is sadism and hatred and it is hurting them badly! Ben Bruce should ingnore these "never see good" and simply follow his heart.
