Fayose to FG - 'Don’t shield Aluko from trial'

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has told the Federal Government not to shield Dr Tope Aluko from facing perjury trial. A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti had granted an experte order, compelling the State Commissioner of Police to bring Dr Tope Aluko to Court for the purpose of committing him to trial for the offence of perjury.

But Aluko, on the 10th of February had approached the same Magistrate Court seeking the vacation of the Warrant of Arrest issued against him. Aluko was wanted for allegedly recounting the statement earlier made on oath during the trial of the election of Governor Ayodele Fayose at the Election Petition Tribunal, where he served as a principal witness to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a case instituted by the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The PDP Scribe had a couple of weeks ago granted an interview where he averred that the election of June 21, 2014, where Fayose had defeated ex-governor Kayode Fayemi to emerge governor , was allegedly rigged by the PDP in cahoots with the military.

Fayose said Federal Government should not shield Dr Aluko from facing open trial over his allegation that the June 21, 2014 governorship poll in the state was rigged in favour of the governor and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, said it was unbecoming of a government, which prides itself as clean, to use an agency of government to prevent somebody that has breached the law of the land from prosecution.

  1. Mr Aluko should face the full force of the law. Every Tom ,Dick and Harry is now riding the law like a horse. Somebody should be used to address this abuse.

  3. They will prosecute him but will wait till you could be joined with him in the dock after your immunity ends. You don't expect him alone to suffer for the crime committed by both of you, that'll be injustice. The law and justice are very patient with a long hand
