Why Kanu apologised to Buhari – Lawyer

A lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, Mr. Vincent Obetta, has said “there is nothing irregular” about the apology tendered by his client to President Muahammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for his “uncomplimentary” comments against them.
Obetta was earlier quoted in online reports as denying that his client tendered such apology.
But the lawyer, in a statement which he sent to newsmen on Thursday, explained that what he denied on behalf of his client was speculation that Kanu had written letters of apology to Buhari, Jonathan and Igbo elders.
He confirmed that Kanu tendered the apology in his statement to the Department of State Service on realising that some of the things he said against Buhari and others were uncomplimentary considering the culture and values of the African society.
He said, “I denied the ruse making the rounds that my client apologised via a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and some Igbo elders.
“I also challenged any reporter to forward to me a copy of the written letter addressed to the President et al. I still maintain my ground that my client Mazi Nnamdi Kanu did not address any letter of apology whatsoever to Buhari, Jonathan and Igbo elders.
“However, I am aware that in the course of making his statements to the SSS (DSS), he acknowledged the fact that certain words he used on these persons/elders during his broadcast were ‘uncomplimentary’ considering the culture and values of the African society to which he belongs.
“He further stated that he might write a letter of apology to the President to express his regret over the use of such words on him. But up until this moment, such letter, to my knowledge, has not been written. And I challenge anybody that has a copy of such to make it public.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

You ain't see anything yet; by the time the complicated Nigeria legal system is through with you, you will know the difference between overall and allover. Kanu you are neck deep into shit!!!
ReplyDeleteThis your lawyer no know anything at all. He may apologise on and he may not have. Which kind of talk is that. Don't worry when those evidences are brought against your client you will run.
ReplyDeleteOh so he did tender apology, wat an irony
ReplyDeleteIf you refused to listen or learn from the Elders, you will face what life brings to you.
ReplyDeleteEleder Ojukwu said he was PROUD to lead the Biafia war but will not ADVISE anybody to lead another. Also that we should have learnt from the past war.
What an Elder see by standing, a child climbing an Iroko tree will never see it.
Lets learn from our Great Leader experience and listen to their advise if we are proud of them.
OJUKWU is one of the great LEADER in Nigeria and his claimed follower should keep his advise. That is the only RESPECT we can give him.
GOD BLESS OUR GREAT LEADERS
Very funny lawyer. You never based your denial on Kanu's apology on whether it was in a personal letter or whether it was in his statement at DSS. Does it even matter on which paper it was written? Besides, even on the DSS statement which you have acknowledged, your client agreed he was going to write that personal letter. So what would be the surprise to you if he did it. These people are full of empty boasts.See who is leading the Biafran agitation. He is already capitulating.I said it before that it is typical of some people to act before they think but when they see those who think before they act, they are quick to abuse and call them cowards. So your over 40 year old client did not know about African culture until he was arrested by DSS
ReplyDeleteDual passport holder. No visa on either. When the chips are down, his followers will regret joining his dubious crusade. We are watching!
ReplyDeleteDoes he need visa to nigeria with nigerian passport? Don't let the ignorance of the president confuse you.
DeleteYou lawfully stamp passports at the port of entry whether land border, seaport, or airport to indicate arrival/departure date. Kanu used apiam way to access Nigeria.
Deletemr kanu is innocent and he is approaching the promised land of Biafra
DeleteNext time, argue according to your knowledge.
DeleteMy client did not apologise: there is nothing irregular about my client's apology: My client only apologized in DSS statement: my client agreed to write a personal letter of apology: my client is yet to write a letter of apology: I challenge any reporter to forward a copy of the apology letter. What a shame for a lawyer. Is this the best lawyer that the leader of Biafra can contract to defend himself? Is this the lily livered leader of Biafra agitation? Is this the one they praise as being articulate? Is this their propagandist? I wonder what would happen when this guy and his lawyer are made to face prosecution witnesses and confronted with more incriminating evidences. Nothing is wrong with fighting for self determination but if you are propagating your agitation with lies and falsehood against the state, you should be ready to defend yourself against the charge of treason. These people do not know who Buhari is. No amount of intimidation would work in their favour. A man that was ready to tread on any toes for his convictions in his forties, you are joking with him in his seventies when he has seen it all and has been it all.
ReplyDeleteWhether he knows about African culture or not prison is awaiting him.....This will serve as a deterrent to other stubborn and unguarded young boys at 40 without wisdom or respect for the Nation
ReplyDeleteNnamdi Kanu did not use wisdom, he should have gone through all his radio station messages with a competent legal team before airing them, he would have passed a powerful message and had more popularity and genuine support, he should have preached non violence, well now he has committed treason, he has an incompetent lawyer. I am sure that he is scared right now because his apologies do not mean anything. U need to see the tone Buhari expressed in the recent media chat on how he hope the court will listen to this case. It will show u water don pass garri, I do not believe that kanu is up to 40 years because he did not act like he is.
ReplyDeletewhere are the igbo that has been saying all sort of things. heaven will come down? he was born in briafra land he was tought about their culture now HE TALK MORE THAN HIMSELF YOU WANT TO APOLOGIZE. ÜUUUUUUUUU LIE. that hammer they hit on your head TREASON. YOU AND UR WEAK LAWYER WILL FACE D CONSIQENCE
