Goodluck Jonathan holds world press conference in Geneva, Switzerland

Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, will on Wednesday, hold a world press conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

The press conference, which holds at 3pm local time, is part of activities lined up by the Circle of Diplomats (Circle Diplomatique), Geneva in honour of Jonathan, which would be concluded with a dinner same day.

According to a statement by Guy Mettan, Executive Director, the Geneva Press Club, Jonathan will address two most crucial topics in Nigeria and West Africa at the press briefing.

Mettan said the former Nigerian president will talk about security and civil peace in Nigeria and West Africa, on one hand, as well as improvement of health and education of children, on the other.

He said accredited United Nations correspondents and Swiss journalists are expected at the press conference, which will most likely see Jonathan talking about Boko Haram activities in Nigeria and the fight against insurgency.

The Circle of Diplomats will also host a dinner in honour of Jonathan on Wednesday night at the Intercontinental Hotel, Geneva.

Since leaving office on May 29, 2015, Jonathan has engaged in peace missions and election monitoring on behalf of the United Nations. He has also received global awards and acclaim for peacefully relinquishing power after losing the presidential election last year.

Jonathan had conceded defeated to President Muhammadu Buhari last year even before the final results of the 2015 Nigerian presidential election was announced.

  2. This man deserve the honourable, for honourably conceded defeat. No African Leader has ever done it, this his singular act will EVER be a reference point in the Global Political His try.
Though he may have made some in his process of Goverance, but his Peaceful Hand Over supercede every other things

  3. Even if we don't appreciate him. World leaders and international bodies of great repute still reckon with him. A great man indeed. I think a person in the caliba of GEJ would have done well as a president in a country like Canada or US and not in a multi-ethnic and corruption infested country like Nigeria. We can all see that he is now operating such level. Not too long ago he bagged an award from a Xtian community in the US. Now he is going to Geneva to deliver a speech on issues of insecurity in Nigeria. Truely God's choosen. Ride on Mr Ex-President.Surely, you going places.

  6. We cannot be deceived, Pdp is behind this mockery called 'world conference'. This man can never be serious for once. This is a world class mediocre coming to talk about civil peace in Nigeria. He should also speak on how he supervised slaughtering of 17,000 Nigerians by Pdp's terrorist wing - Boko Haram and $2bn arms money.Conceding victory: when did it be become a big deal.He would have dared not to hand over. He should be charged for genocide after the pdp arrange e conference right there in Hague. Conference my foot!!

    3. AnonymousJanuary 25, 2016 at 9:09 AM For you to assume PDP is behind the speech conference in Geneva shows how weak you are in your brain. You think $2.1Billion is the problem Nigeria is facing right now? Or you think EFCC whatever they called themselves can go near Jonathan for arrest? If Jonathan is arrested then Obasanjo and all ex state governors, minister and Buhari himself will be arrested because he got 2 cars from the loot. Mind you Jonathan is going places and there is nothing you and I can do to stop him. If all Southerners are United like the Northerners he should still be in office making waves.. Not the baba Ijebu who call himself president yet he doesn't know what he is doing. Let see how far he can go to bring peace and social amenities to the country.
