Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested the National Publicity Secretary Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh.
He was picked up at his residence located at Drive One, Prince and Princess Estate, in the Games Village area of Abuja today.
NE learnt that four officials of the commission stormed his residence in the early hours of the day and asked him to follow them to the commission’s headquarters, at Wuse Zone 2.
Metuh’s Special Assitant, Mr. Richard Ihediwa, confirmed the arrest of his boss.
He said, “Upon enquiry on the reasons for the invitation (by the EFCC officials), the officials stated that he has some issues to clear with the commission.
“They also said he was not being arrested but friendly invited. The operatives, four in number, came in a White unmarked Toyota Hiace bus.”
He added that Metuh was still being kept at the commission’s headquarters while his lawyers were making frantic efforts to reach him.
Metuh said on Monday that he had yet to be invited for questioning by the EFCC and wondered why he would be reading about the plan to interrogate him on the pages of newspapers.
Metuh is said to be under investigation for allegedly collecting about N400m from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sabo Dasuki (retd.).
A company he was said to have interest in is also under investigation.
The money he allegedly collected from Dasuki was alleged to be part of the funds meant for the procurement of arms and ammunition for the fight against Boko Haram in North-East.
Metuh had agreed that he collected undisclosed sum of money from former President Goodluck Jonathan.
But he said he got the undisclosed amount from carrying out unspecific work as the spokesperson for the PDP for the former President.

Hope Nigerians remember that same type of work Sepp Blatter, suspended Fifa president gave to Platini where no contract was drawn or nature of job done mentioned but got paid millions,I think Metuh had same contract with Jonathan and Dasuki
ReplyDeleteGood news! Next is fani kayode the, Director-general Goodluck campaigne office
ReplyDeleteIts only in Nigeria that the ruling party shows enmity by arresting all who do spoke against them, where ate we heading to? this is not Military era but democratic era .Is that the chance Buhari promise Nigerians?
ReplyDeleteYou are obviously born to suffer your whole life.
DeleteThe country is in a serious economy crises as a result of the greediness of some selected few and you are talking about "military era". If you've had a brother in the military who died as a result of lack of weapon or you'd probably lost a loved one due to boko haram attacks, you would have really praised the efforts of PMB to bring those responsible to justice. Money meant to arm the military was diverted into the private pockets of some blood-sucking heartless individuals...can't you THINK!
That is crime against humanity for Christ sake!
How does arresting people change anything, you are the clueless one instead for the admin to let by gone be so, and work on addressing the current crises and building the economic state of the nation they wallow in witch hunting, i do not support corruption neither do i believe this people are without blame but we should work on developing systems to prevent further theft and carry out proper investigation to retrieve the stolen funds without making a big fuss of it.
DeleteNigeria is not the only corrupt country in the world leadership should be objective, strategies designed and tactics applied each step thought forward so we can weather the storms ahead there is a global recession coming with the current slump of global oil pricess
God bless you for this reply annonymus 6:27. It beats me how unenlightened and backward some people can be, especially in their reactions to issues of national security.
DeleteU indeed talk like them!
ReplyDeleteThief= Ole=Barawo=onyeohi!
No Mercy for any human male that climb him MaMa!
The Great General, Carry Go!
part of the change he promised is to fight corruption. If you are not happy that it is no longer business as usual, you can leave nigeria. I imagine if your father, brother or child are among theose mained, killed and taken away by boko haram if your language will remain the same.
ReplyDeleteu pple dont no anytin. what about buhari his name was mentioned but yet to be arested
ReplyDeleteSo is only people dat remain in PDP dat are corrupted
ReplyDeletewe shall all see. all d PDP members dat joined APC are now uncorrupt
Sincerely speaking some people have mud between their ears and no brain at all. We are talking of people who diverted public fund for private use and like a mumu that you are you are talking of PDP and APC. The nation is at the precipice of collapse you are condemning attempts to bring to book those who destroyed the nation's economy. What did they do with our money when all was selling above 100 dollars? PMB carry ho
ReplyDeleteThe point is, fighting corruption is very good. Bringing to book those who are corrupt, also very good. But the problem is, how come other names who are presently in APC already mentioned for one theft or the other are not fought - their own corruption not fought? How then can we be sure it is truly a fight against corruption and not a witch-hunt?
DeleteIf you are in PDP now you are the worst criminals in Nigeria, so just decamp to APC and you authomatically become saints. Ask Amechi, Obj, Saraki, etc.
ReplyDeleteTo be free from probe, EFCC, DSS, etc, just become an APC member.
If the late Anenih (the notorious armed robber in the 80's) had waited till now to join APC, he would not be prosecuted all, let alone being at the firing scuad. In fact he would have been an APC chieftain. No tolerance for opposition at all. Not the govt alone, even their supporters do not want to be argued with all, they every body to accept their view hook, line and sinker, even if such view was obviously wrong.
They want to be feared and worship. But remember king Herod. Period.
Just let Metuseler spend the rest of his life in jail period. FFK now waiting for his turn. They are all rogues, Barawo, Awon Oleeeeeeee. Buhari burst all the Pdp rogues and send to jail. God bless you Buhari, you are the best.
ReplyDeletepls some 1 should answer this question? Are all PDP members who decamp to APC & other APC members all clean and saints? I'm not against Anti corruption campaign but there is sentiment in this corruption campaign. Pls let's be fair in our comments by saying the truth.
ReplyDeleteThe fight against corruption must start from somewhere because a journey of one thousand years always start with a step. It's not going to be business as usual. We cannot cross our fingers and allow innocent soldiers and people died because of the embezzlement of few sadistic people who shared money meant to equipped soldiers against the insurgents. To those fools who are castigating Buhari, I pray Boko haram pay you and your family a visit before you understand what the world is talking about.....May the souls of innocent people and ill equipped soldiers who laid their lives fighting gboko haram continue to rest in peace....Amen
ReplyDeleteIs it only soldiers who suffered due to corruption. What of civilians who died in state run hospitals and medical facilities due to lack of drugs and medical equipment that monies are appropriated for in yearly budgets? What of pensioners who die yearly due to outstanding pensions owed to them by the various state govts thus depriving them resources to treat themselves. What about Nigerian's who are maimed daily in the traffic by hudlums due to bad spots on the road? Everyone who was corrupt must be tried with no exceptions-abi is it only a crime when you steal at the Federal level? The State and local Govts are allocated 55% of the resources accruing to the country constitutionally and have a larger amount of money to account for. So while Buhari's couragous actions should be encouraged we should stop shouting down people asking that corrupt persons in APC should also be tried.
DeleteNigerians will never cease to amaze me. We are catching thieves and they are discussing whether they are the only ones? So, we should leave the ones we have concrete evidence on and start chasing shadows? Everyone's time will come - trust GMB. Once he finishes with the first set, a second and third and forth etc. set will be dealt with.
ReplyDeleteMy friend, don't mind them. It is always the rogues and those who benefit from looting that would always say they are not the only one. If they catch a thief breaking into their house and they take him to the police, I wonder what they would say if the police tells them "You see, there are other thieves, and we need to catch them first before we try this one".
