The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has admitted into evidence, documents depicting how N400 million was electronically transferred to the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA.
Trial Justice Okon Abang admitted the three sets of documents which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, tendered through a senior official from the ONSA, Mr. Baleh Ndam.
The documents which were marked as Exhibits A, B and C, included a petition captioned “Payment To Companies With No Contract Awards and Approval”, which the ONSA forwarded to the Chairman of the EFCC on November 28, 2015.
Others were a letter the EFCC sent to the ONSA on January 13, 2016, requesting for details of payments that were made to Metuh’s firm, Destra Investment Limited, and a reply to the EFCC letter dated January 14, 2016, which disclosed that the N400m was transferred to the 2nd defendant via e-payment.
The witness told the court that Metuh’s firm was included in the list of 78 companies that allegedly received payments from the ONSA without executing any contract.
However, while being cross-examined by the defence counsel, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, the witness who said he has been working in the legal department in the ONSA since 2012, confirmed from a document that was presented to him, that Metuh was awarded contract by the erstwhile NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd, to purchase three operational vehicles for the ONSA. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
