Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, yesterday assured that his administration will continue with every project of importance abandoned by the previous administration.
The governor who spoke in Port Harcourt while commissioning the Aboloma-Woji Road bridge, promised to take development to every part of the state despite the drop in the financial strength of the state.
He said his government will discourage waste of public funds by making sure that every project of value abandoned by the previous government was completed.
Earlier, Commissioner for Works, Engr Kevin Wachukwu, said that Wike’s administration inherited the expansion component of the road at the earthwork stage from “the bridge abutment measuring 1.35km in a swampy and marshy area.”
He said that the Aboloma-Woji Road bridge commissioned was a dual carriage way of 1.672 kilometres.
On his part, the Commissioner for Information, Dr Austin Tam-George, said that the administration of former Governor Chibuike Amaechi had the highest record of abandoned projects since 1967 in the state. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
