Each player in the Dream Team will receive the Naira equivalent of $4,000 if Nigeria defeats Algeria in Saturday’s U-23 African Nations Cup final in Dakar, Senegal.
However, the players will not get a dime if they lose to the Algerians, africanFootball.com reports.
“It’s winner-takes-it-all. So we have to give everything to be champions tonight,” an official told africanFootball.com.
The players were paid the Naira equivalent of $3,000-a-man for the semi-final win over hosts Senegal, $2,000-a-man for the opening-day win over Mali, and $1,000 for the draws with Egypt and Algeria.
They were also paid $100 per day for the 10 days they trained in The Gambia prior to the championship.
Altogether, each player has so far received the Naira equivalent of $8,000. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

You see Nigeria has two stress to address, and they week get the best off both areas: one, make politics undressing by slashing their salaries, two, stop this abusive dashing of huge funds to few soccer players while others suffer in poverty. If these two things are done, see the advantage: one, only those who really want to work for the people will contest for political elections, two, youths will not indulge in many hideous things to be amongst the national team, moreover, senators and ministers and other influential men of the Nigerian polity will stop imposing players on the coaches, as those men still see it as another legit avenue for amassing the national wealth and therein, the best quality players can stand a chance of being selected...my humble opinion
ReplyDeleteU are right.... Politics in sports...
DeleteThe team needs to be tactical & work on their energy level..... They usually get tired in 2nd half.... If these are not addressed, in Olympic, they will be loosing matches at the last minutes...
