Nigeria slams fresh 6-count charge against Pro-Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu

‎The Federal Government of Nigeria has slammed a fresh six-count criminal charge against the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu was charged before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court alongside two others, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.‎

The trio were accused of committing treasonable felony, an offence punishable under Section 41(C) of the Criminal Code Act, CAP C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

The charge which came up for mention before trial Justice ‎Ahmed Mohammed Tuesday, was endorsed by the Director of  Public Prosecution, DPP, Mr. Mohammed Saidu Diri.

Meantime, when the matter was called up by Justice Mohammed Tuesday, neither the prosecuting counsel nor the accused persons ‎were present in court.

‎However, one Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor announced appearance for the defendants, even as he queried the seriousness of the federal government to prosecute the matter.

‎Ejiofor insisted that the fresh charge was noting but a ploy by the government to ensure the continued detention of the accused persons, especially Kanu, who was earlier granted bail by the same high court.
Nevertheless, Justice Mohammed, explained that though the matter was slated in the court's cause-list for mention yesterday, he said it was obvious that the prosecution was not notified.

‎The Judge therefore adjourned the case Wednesday, saying a date for the arraignment of the accused persons would be communicated to all the parties.

  1. When the gods want to kill a man, they first make him mad.Buhari has obviously gone mad and his doom is nearer. This KANU issue will make or break Nigeria. BH is hitting this country repeatedly and PMB is transferring his anger to another man who only operated an illegal radio. Kayode Fayemi operated radio Kudirat and he was rewarded with governorship post and now a minister. This is pure hatred for a particular race.

    1. You obviously sound like someone who has no idea how a country is governed. Soon we'd not hear anything about Kanu, his story would soon be forgotten. By the way, those in Aso Rock really do not read such sentiments you spit.

Too bad you still don't know that the gods are dead. So because of BH, Kanu should be allowed to operate "only illegal radio" and should be encourage to continue to engage in act of treasonable felony. I don't you don't understand government and governance. Try your idea out in your house with your children and see the result of the impunity you are cavassing. Mind you on radio kudirat, the times are different now. It was an impostor and illegal government of the military then. Now we have a ligitimate and legal democratic government, govern by the rule of law. My friend, Nigeria no longer the gungle island you desire. Kanu ko. Kanu ni! Rubbish!

    1. Please we do not want war instead let biafra go. Nigeria cannot again kill 1 million people and get away with it this time oh. Hold ya ear well and listen. By the time these biafrans quout Buhari's statements of monkeys and baboons, and attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north, only vote for Muslims and how he supports sharia. The west will desend on nigeria and defend biafra. Be careful not to kill kanu

  11. Ibo stark ignorance and hatred for other major tribes will sink them eventually.
If at all Fayemi was in charge of radio kudirat, he fared not let people know. He or even Nobel laureate Soyinka never show their faces. They were fighting the terror regime and democracy thief Calle Abacha. They never canvassed for a Yoruba country. It was not Oduduwa Radio. It was jointly sponsored by Ndibuisi Kanu, Soyinka, late Papa Rewanu and Tinubu. They never solicited for ammunition from Nigerians in diaspora. In fact they never addressed a press conference publicly. The radio was supported by all sections of Nigeria because we all hated Abacha.
But what we have today is for Biafrans to attack Yorubas for voting Buhari. Who says it is wrong for Ibos to support Jonathan? No one. In fact they should have no apology for exercising their rights.
The more they are pouring out their hidden deep seated hatred for Yorubas and Hausas the more they are jeopardizing the chances of fellow Igbos who do not believe in Biafra from ever becoming President of Nigeria. They were like 8 years close to that as at June 2015 but today they are nothing less than 25 years from that now.
The South South whose son Jonathan is have since shielded their sword but the Igbos are behaving as if Jonathan was an Igbo government.
