Kanu’s release will restore Ndigbo’s confidence in Buhari’s govt – Ohanaeze youths

-The youth wing of the pan Igbo socio- cultural organization, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for heeding the pleas of Ndigbo and other progressive Nigerians in releasing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Director of Radio Biafra , Nnamdi Kanu.

The National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary, Nnabuike Okwu; the group said Kanu’s release would go a long way in dousing the tension in the polity.

According to the statement, “Nnamdi Kanu’s final release from detention will also restore the confidence of Ndigbo in Buhari’s administration. It would also end the orgy of protests by Biafra agitators which had ravaged most states in the defunct Eastern region.

OYC appealed to pro- Biafra groups to reciprocate the federal government’s gesture by discontinuing further protests for the sake of peace in the overall interest of the nation and restated its commitment in brokering peace between the federal government and the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, IPOB and other pro Biafra groups to address their grievances.

“Kanu’s detention was not the only reason for protests by MASSOB and IPOB. There are several fundamental issues which must be addressed to heal the wounds of Ndigbo such as the poor state of federal roads in the South East, abandonment of the Enugu coal mine over 43 years, non- inclusion of Abia and Imo youths in the Niger Delta Amnesty deal, amongst others.”

While calling on the federal government to quickly address all injustices against Ndigbo which it said are the cause of the renewed agitation for Biafra, the youth group urged Ndigbo to remain calm and law abiding.

  1. We can start by building our own homeland first. A lot of business in Nigeria are own by Igbo's But why can,t they relocate their headquarter to the east yet they develop other parts of the country and come home to build an edifice so that the villagers will always bow their head for you. MY BROTHERS THIS IS WRONG Not even one functional International Airport in the East yet we are the best in what we do. Even the sea port in onitsha is not functional What are we really doing as a people and brothers to better our land rather than fighting for succession. Please preach freedom and prosperity let develop igbo land for ourselves first

  3. Amnesty program for igbo youth just like the niger delta militant? So they are part of the south south people now? He'll yeah, lets start amnesty program for the yoruba youth too,why stop there, lets start one for the north east, north centra, the middlebelts as well.We shouldn't stop there, lets start amnesty program for all nigerian youth. This people are a bunch ofidiots, low life miscreants with a lot of idle time on their hand.If they are educated enoughThey will realise that nigeria cannot afford dishing out all this free money without impuning on the ability to bring infrastructural development to the region and all other areas that needs it.We know nothing was done there in quite a while but that was due to corruption. They need to bring the protest to the door step of their leaders who build magnificent edifice in their village, yet no one dare to question the source of income while they celebrate this looters. The federal government get blamed for all that hails nigeria a rightfully so to a certain extent,we need to start making the state governments accountable as well. The state government needs to be accountable on how they spend their allocations.
