Pro-Biafran protesters storm Lagos despite warnings

Despite warnings by the security agencies and most recently the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives to the pro-Biafran protests not to stage any protest in Lagos,NigerianEye learnt that Biafra agitators protested along the Alaba-Ojo axis of Lagos State on Wednesday.

NE gathered that The march shut down the major roadways in Lagos and brought business activity to a standstill.

IPOB announced yesterday it would conduct a protest in Lagos on December 16th and 17th.

The second day of protests will see marchers visit the offices of Amnesty International, the United Nations (UN), as well as several embassies in order to deliver protest letters.

The planned marches come on the heels of a warning from the Lagos chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that pro-Biafra protesters should “steer clear” of Lagos.

Police officers were present throughout the protest in order to ensure public safety. Thus far, there are no reports of violence in contrast to the bloody clashes between pro-Biafra protesters and police earlier this month.

  18. These miscreants don't even understand what they are doing, how many of the Igbos elites are clamouring for Biafra? Only the gala sellers and lowlives. Do they even know this request can be handled in a civilised manner by asking for a referendum. This is Lagos, by the time your businesses are shut down, you will all go cap in hand begging Ambode. Think for once people. Do it the right way.

  21. @ anonymous @11:07am,u said yoruba people can't look at you one on one.Have u been to all your businesses in lagos where u are forced to pay for doing business there by the omo onile there? I don't like d fact that idiots with no job forces others to part with their earnings but that right there shows that ur people are the scared one by not refusing to pay.Not only are yoruba people not scared of your people, they have intimidated you guys to pay for any business u do in lagos. You try not to pay and you will see the way they will deal with your people in lagos. All this your protest better not get out of hand or na serious gobe una go unleash on una self.Thi is a wakeup call to all our yoruba elders, the chicken has come home to roost, they will never try this in north but yet have the temerity to try this nonsense in a state that ha no qualms with them,a state that welcomes them with open arms more so than any other tribes in nigeria.Yoruba ppl needs to open their eyes and see if the lov we have for this people is reciprocated. They think yoruba people betrayed them during the biafran war when they are the one that betrayed the yoruba people. They wanted yoruba people to join them in an unjust war that they brought on themselves by being the first tribe to carry out a coup and a bloody one at that where they killed all the yoruba leaders, hausa leaders and south south leaders but yet spared their own leaders. They humiliated this people before they killed them. Now they were looking for sympathy when this people paid them back.Yoruba people need to know that during the biafran war, they had attacked ore in ondo state first, their intention was to take it over and conquer us until the federal government pushed them back. They are only making all this noise because we have an hausa president. They are the most tribalistic tribe in Nigeria and we must not entertain this nonsense meant to fan the flame of tribalism

  24. oboi see provocations oo! interesting, quite interesting, but i guess you can even go to London or Washington and do your protest. Whats the big deal that a peaceful protest was done in a city. I think we all should look up and stop looking down. Besides, better be ready for the coming of Jesus Christ, else you will be protesting or cursing those protesting and find yourself caught on the wrong side of eternity. Repent Nigeria!

  25. We can start by building our own homeland first. A lot of business in Nigeria are own by Igbo's But why can,t they relocate their headquarter to the east yet they develop other parts of the country and come home to build an edifice so that the villagers will always bow their head for you. MY BROTHERS THIS IS WRONG Not even one functional International Airport in the East yet we are the best in what we do. Even the sea port in onitsha is not functional What are we really doing as a people and brothers to better our land rather than fighting for succession. Please preach freedom and prosperity let develop igbo land for ourselves first
