Alaibe denies defecting to PDP

A former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Chief Timi Alaibe, has denied defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Alaibe, who was reacting to a recent report in a national daily that he had dumped the All Progressives Congress for the PDP, described the claim as false.

Speaking at his hometown in Kolokuma/Okpokuma Local Government Area on Saturday, Alaibe, explained that some unknown persons had cloned his phone number and send bulk sms to the people of the state that he had defected to the PDP.

Alaibe, who spoke through his aide, Mr. Bonnke Bilabou, described the development as an attempt to malign his person and dent his image.

“I have not declared support for or decamped to the PDP. This is a desperate attempt by certain people to defame me. This same people cloned my phone number. Vote wisely,” he said.

Meanwhile, there was massive turnout in Kolokuma/Okpokuma Local Government Area as voters came out in droves to perform their civic duty.

In Alaibe’s ward (Igbainwari Townsquare 3, Ward 7, Unit 14) 108 persons had been accredited as at 11.35am out of the expected 360 voters registered in the unit.
