Governors of South East states will on Sunday convene an emergency meeting over increasing agitation for the cessation of the zone by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).
Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State said at the end of their meeting in Enugu on Tuesday that the forum needed to ensure lasting peace in the zone.
Okorocha said the governors resolved to consult widely with Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the zone, traditional rulers, development unions, the clergy and other stakeholders.
“In furtherance to this, the south-east governors scheduled an emergency meeting of stakeholders on Sunday Nov. 22, 2015 at Enugu.
“Attendance at the emergency meeting will include all National Assembly members, ministers from the zone and other invited stakeholders from the zone”, he said.
The governor advised IPOB/MASSOB to continue to toe the line of peace “as this is the only way to ensure development of the zone.”
Okorocha said the forum was concerned about the state of federal roads in the zone, particularly the Enugu-Onitsha express road, Aba-Ikot Ekpene, Owerri-Port Harcourt and Enugu-Port Harcourt roads.
He called on the Federal Government to intervene urgently on the roads and many others in deplorable conditions.
The governor said the forum agreed to appoint a high level Economic Advisory Committee to harness the economic potentials of the people of the area. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

DeleteOk. So take him to court and let justice prevail. They court granted hin bail so now they ignore the court. These igbi errand boy leaders are a disgrace to finger only federal roads, what have they done in thier states? I blame thier looting and bad government for this mess more than I blame the federal government. okorocha is running around kissing any northerner he can find thinking that will help him while he ignores the plight of the people. He talks a if he is a saviour yet does not pay work and builds massive private mansions for himself. of course he will hate biafra because in such a nation he cannot loot or sweet talk and northerners
DeleteAll we need is freedom we so much need biafra our home land Good or bad
ReplyDeleteHmmmn, Are you in any bondage? Last time I checked I saw no chains on anybody. If you guys want to go, explore the civilized route.
DeleteLet your National Assembly members move a motion for a secession in the senate and house of rep, let there be a referendum in the South East. With all this done and if the answers are all Yes, Secede, my Brother, you guys can go o. Nobody in Nigeria is ready to go through another war to hold anybody back from going.
I just hope you guys are fully aware of the true realities and implications though.
