The Senate has commenced the process of investigating allegations of fraud, bribery and inflation of contracts preferred against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mr. Danladi Umar.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is currently standing trial before Umar’s panel over a 13-count charge of alleged false declaration of assets which was contained in the form he filled as Governor of Kwara State, at the Code of Conduct Bureau, sometimes in 2003.
But in what appeared to be a retaliatory move, a member of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Senator Obinna Ogba, presented a petition against Umar on the floor of the red chamber, on Thursday.
Ogba explained that the petition was signed by one Ajaso. I Ajaso on behalf of a group, Anti Corruption Network.
He also said that the petitioners had not sought judicial remedy against Umar but seeking senate intervention to probe the corrupt allegations contained in the document.
Saraki consequently referred the petition to the committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions and asked the chairman, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, to carry out a thorough investigation and report back in two weeks.
When contacted after plenary, to get details of the petition, the committee chairman said it had already receiving legislative action. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Lol.. Nigerian politics, a very shameful move by the Senate. This is obviously a sign of witch hunt jst cos the Senate president is facing trial at thr cct
ReplyDeleteSaraki! You drowning and yet you keep complicating issues and matter. Yesterday you were running from one court in the country to another today you are giving a PDP senator who heads the ethics committee the assignment to investigate the allegation of corruption of the Judge in charge of your case. We already know the outcome of the probe we don't need to wait for 2 weeks before they report back. It's is true that when you fight corruption, corruption will fight back in double. Your plan is to stop Buhari's anti corruption campaign but you will by the grace of God.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of idiots posing as senators. It is obvious why you are doing this and what your conclusion will be. This country should be ashamed of itself. Saraki the thief-in-chief, don't you see how stupid this makes you look?
ReplyDeleteFighting dirty is the hallmark of Nigerian politics what a shameless crooks!
ReplyDeletefunny country. Senate probes the same CCT that is presently hearing a case against the SP. Shameful leaders. They will still claim it is in our best interest they are serving.
ReplyDeleteThis is what you get when you make your fight against corruption is selective.
ReplyDeleteAll of you above are of small minds. Those of us in the corridor of power / government as messengers and officers knew of this alleged crime as far back as 2013. Even the photocopy of the report is in my house now. PLS NOTE B4 U COMMENT ON ANY MATTER OF CORRUPTION CONCERNING ANY NIGERIAN.THERE IS NO NIGERIAN LIVING FROM 16yrs AND ABOVE THAT IS NOT DANGEROUSLY CORRUPT. Nigerian people is the less you look the more you see and know. Don't trust ur father if he's on government , politics and business in Nigeria
ReplyDeleteAre the one with the shallow mind. If u read carefully u would see that no one has said the cct chairman is innocent. U jst said it urself that allegations was dated far back has 2013 and they didn't prosecute him. Why is it that it is now that the senate president who is facing trial at the cct is the one giving orders for the prob. Try and broaden ur mind and u will understand the point we are all trying to make. Lol..
DeleteMilitary rule is the best for Nigeria
ReplyDeleteYes, it was dated back to 2013. Why has it not been probed, does it have to be a witch hunting cos Senate President is also been investigated by his led CCT. These Senators are disgrace to Nigeria n Nigerians. God bless NIGERIA.
