A group of Northern youths under the aegis of North-East Youth Peace Development Empowerment Initiative (NYPDEI) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari not to sack the Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, considering his excellent performance in office since April this year.
The National President, NYPDEI, Alhaji Kyari Abubakar made the appeal, yesterday, while reacting to recent publications in the media that President Muhammadu Buhari may review some appointments made by former President Goodluck Jonathan after the presidential elections in March this year.
Solomon Arase was appointed IGP by President Jonathan after the sack of Suileman Abba.
Abubakar stated that though Arase was not appointed by President Buhari, the IGP has proved that he is capable of doing the job judging by his performance in the past six months.
He said: “Though it is true that Arase was appointed during President Jonathan’s last days in office, he has demonstrated competence in handling the security situation of the country. The security situation of the country under Arase has improved tremendously which the president must consider before making any decision.
“There is no need to replace a competent hand like Arase, who has been working tirelessly to ensure total security of the country,” he said.
He further stated that the country has witnessed a lot of improvement in security since the past six months, adding that the people of North East believe the security of the region would be better with Arase as IGP.
Abubakar described the role played by the police under Arase in the rescue of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, who was abducted recently by unknown gun men as legendary.
“While it is necessary for President Buhari to review some of the last day appointments of former President, President Buhari should critically assess the performance of Arase in the last six months as IGP before taking any decision on him,” he said. If PMB wants to sack Arase; let him go ahead. it is a common knowledge that he has been replacing public office holders with his people. the only reason the northern youths are asking for his retention is because he dances to their tunes, it can never be as a result of competence as stated in this write up. How can the rescues of Olu falae be credited to the NPF when he himself informed the general public that he paid ransom for his release from his abductors.
ReplyDeleteWhy will PMB think of doing such? The IGP has shown a lot of competence. Must all GEJ's appointees be fired without any justifiable reason? Well we are watching. Everybody will soon answer his father's name in this country. WATCH OUT.
ReplyDeleteMy people, we have a long way to go! I pray Allah saves from useless people o!
ReplyDeleteIt is true that Solomon Arase is a right officer in a right position of IG. The only problem is the system in Nigeria. Everybody except the devils with bad intentions would support 11hrs appointments made by the former President Jonathan.
Some of the best hands that can be used to develop the country were given late hours assignments. It is not only in appointments, the looting spree that followed the defeat of PDP is another area where Nigerians need to discuss. This is because knowing fully that they lost power, the next thing was to make life unbearable for those who voted for new administration.
One after the others, Allah is dealing with them. Cancer here, Hypertension there and Cardiac problem is at their doors. As these diseases dragging them over the world, poor Nigerians are being taken care of by Allah.
