MASSOB to Igbos - 'Return home now'

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has directed all Igbo living outside Igbo land to start returning home and re-establish their businesses and investments in the South-East.

Decrying what he described as the nonchalant attitude and insensitivity of many Igbo people residing in northern and western parts of the country the MASSOB National Director of Information, Mr. Uchenna Madu, said that, “we have decided and promise to provide adequate security for lives and property in Igboland.

MASSOB shall defend Igboland with our blood, valour and enthusiasm. It is our unflinching service to our father land.

“MASSOB has vowed to stop kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal tendencies in Igbo land because there is no place in Nigeria like Igbo land.

“Nigeria is a state where others are first class citizens but treat the Igbo as second class citizen, a state where others are born to rule but treat the Igbo as perpetual outcasts, a state where state policies deliberately deny Igbo land critical developmental infrastructure.

“Nigeria has vowed to continue to be a state where prejudice, tribalism, exclusion and hate are elevated while nation building is ignored, a state where it seems the only logic for unity is to share oil resources and not on the basis of consent, mutual respect, fraternity and brotherhood.

“Today in Nigeria, true nationhood has remained elusive to Nigeria which still remains in perpetual strife and ever increasing crisis since independence.
Thëse undeniable realities are the reasons the Nigeria state is afraid of Biafra which represents the truth they cannot legitimately counter.”

But reacting to the spate of protests by pro-Biafra groups, the Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, dissociated itself from the activities of the agitators who have been protesting in many cities in the South East and South –South.

Ohaneze said that, “Biafra died in 1970 with the surrender by General Philip Effiong, to the Nigerian troops.”

Addressing reporters in Awka yesterday, Chairman, Forum of State Presidents of Ohaneze in the seven Igbo-peaking states, Dr. Chris Eluomunoh, said that no right thinking person would support what he called the madness by some youths, who were being deceived to engage in something they cannot finish.

He said, “you will notice that Ohaneze has been silent on the issue of Biafra insurgency though the youth wing of Ohaneze has been speaking on it.
Ohaneze, as the Igbo cultural group, cannot support Biafra and we dissociate ourselves from it totally.

“Igbo people have contributed so much in the development of Nigeria and we cannot allow some people to jeopardize the lives and efforts of millions of Igbo people residing in all parts of Nigeria.

“We believe that anybody who has any issue to settle with the federal government should use dialogue and that is why we participated in the last National Conference.

“No sane Igbo person would want to witness a repeat of the kind of thing that happened during the Nigeria civil war.

“Ojukwu, who led the Biafra war, returned to Nigeria from exile and contested elections in Nigeria which shows that he was fully integrated in Nigeria and was a full-fledged Nigerian before he died.”

Eluemunor denied insinuations that politicians of Igbo extraction support the Biafra agitation noting that support for pro-Biafra groups comes mainly from outside the country.

He admitted however that the agitations may not be unconnected with the dearth of infrastructure in Igbo land and pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to address the infrastructural decay in the area.

  6. Who is Ohaneze indigbo? A few old men who has been corrupted by the Nigerian government to betray their own father land and sell out the future of the unborn Igbo race... They do not represent the Igbo people... They are Nigerian Igbo politicians...
Ojukwu was the one who figure head the then Biafra war but the independent of Biafran from Nigeria was never his personal decision. The entire the entire then south east region took that decision and Ojukwu been the then south east military Governor had to lead the war...
Biafra is not dead.. And to those who think that Biafra was dead... Tell them that Biafra has resurrected and will remain alive forevermore!!!!

    1. That is the problem with Igbo, you font have respect for elders and Institutions of authority and you want to rule? The same Ohanaezoe that will be elders in council in your quest for Biafra means nothing to you. Who do you have regards for? Rebels? Like Ojukwu? And self styled rebel like Kanu Nnamdi? You are just preposterous!!!

  8. Who are those agitating for secession?
They're no other than those Onitsha market traders and some Aba boys who probably didn't witness the civil war of 1967-1970.
As far as I know there is nothing to fall back upon in Igbo land other than being industrious because their land isn't fertile for agriculture and land is scarce . The topography of that place is mostly hilly and erosion wears away their soil. To also get water is difficult.
I want to say secession isn't an answer because Igbo lands are landlocked .
An adage in Yoruba : Eniti Sango ba ti oju e wole , ko ni bawon bu Oba koso . A word is enough for the wise.

  10. So far as Biafra exists in the hearts and minds of the majority of Igbos, Biafra is not dead and cannot die. It is a nation to behold, and shall be independent someday without a single gun shot.

  11. The Ibo elders who have access to the Internet must be ashamed and thoroughly embarrassed by the comments of their sons and daughters. Which kind of culture allows a young man to rain abuses on his father for daring to correct his foolish acts. Are these have baked, illiterate young men the true future of the Ibo race? Something definitely went wrong with their upbringing. And the Ibo elders must take the full blame!

  12. Read what former Chief of Army staff said: IHEJIRIKA WROTE ON HIS FACEBOOK WALL :
    FOOLISH IS NOT IGBO!!!

For 6 years our own occupied the offices of Deputy Senate President, Deputy Speaker, SGF, Minister of Finance /Coordinating Minister of the Nigerian Economy, Ministers of Health, Aviation, Labour, Petroleum (by Marriage), Chief of Army Staff etc yet nobody complained that the Igbos got too much of the Federal Power rations neither did your highly placed brethren improve your lot in terms of development!

Other ethnic groups watched carefully and played their politics towards national relevance while we the Igbos got carried away and played politics of the pocket where semi-illiterate money bags charted the cause for us!

Those who have access to Aso Rock and got fat contracts sustained the lies to hoodwink both Aso Rock Gods and the Igbos. In blind response devoid of any logical reasonings the Igbos put all their fragile eggs in one basket that had lost form and shape to protect them.
As the results of those fatal errors set in the same money miss roads are now fanning the ambers of secession as their next meal ticket bargaining chip while the teaming youth they lure with money and lies risk losing everything including their lives for nothing in the end.

Compare the Igbo TAN money bags and/or failed politicians to the likes of Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Femi Otedola who are hardly seen or heard playing partisan talk less of ethno-religious politics!

Imagine Dangote gathering the leaders of Northerners in Lagos and imposing political party or candidate in Lagos State politics on them. Such is near impossible!

The Igbos have allowed derogatory pocket politics to puncture their natural nobility as a people!

With men of honour and class like Ebitu Ukaiwe, Emeka Anyaoku, Ndubisi Kanu, Ben Nwabueze and others the Igbos should have no business listening to the likes of Ifeanyi Uba (Capital Oil), Chris Uba etc any time they talk politics!

    Foolish is not IGBO!!!
