An Ogba Chief Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Tope Otenaike, to six months in prison with hard labour for stealing N15, 000 property of one Onyedika Eze.
Otenaike was arraigned by the police on November 10 on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Uche Simon, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 4 at Shop 196, Ikota Shopping Complex, Ajah, Lagos.
He said the defendant, who lives at No. 350 Jakande Estate, Ajah, Lagos and others still at large, snatched Eze’s bag after threatening her with a dangerous weapon.
The offences contravene Sections 409 and 285(a)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011, the prosecutor added.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Y.R. Pineiro, found Otenaike guilty on both counts and sentenced him to six months jail term without an option of fine. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

a country that's full of impunity and deceit.. Where poor people have no one to defend themselves. Imagine this useless people.. Our so called politicians are looting our money every day and no body is putting them in prison... Because poor people don't know their right. .. God will judge each and everyone one of us
ReplyDeleteThen the politicians that steal billions will be flown abroad for health issues or fake cancer treatment. God is watching.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to criminal justice administration in Nigeria. Steal seventeen billion Naira (N17,000,000,000), get six months jail term in a five star hospital(Tafa Balogun ). Steal Fifteen thousand Naira (N15, 000), get six months jail term with hard labour! (Tope Otenaike). One set of rules for the rich, another for the poor. Tell me how this country can progress with this hypocrisy?
ReplyDeleteGod has turned his back on this country. We will NOT make any progress until we institute fairness and the fear of God in all we do.
