I’m ready to govern Bayelsa again — Sylva

Former Governor of Bayelsa State and candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the December 5, election, Chief Timipre Sylva, yesterday, said that the painful experience of his exit from office in 2012 and his travails in the hands of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had toughened and made him a better person to govern the state.

Sylva said that though his political experience outside the Government House could be likened to the “wilderness” in which several challenges came his way, he survived because God has destined him to lead the people of the state out of the era of poverty under the PDP and into prosperity and infrastructural development under the APC.

He spoke at a separate interactive session at Obogoro community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state, where he met with some aggrieved pensioners and later visited the palace of the paramount ruler.

According to him, these experiences had made him more matured and ready to deliver to the people of the state good governance and development.

“In 2012, God, through some persons threw me into the wilderness. These people sent snakes after me, I killed the snakes. They sent sharks after me, I swallowed them up. I am matured and ready to govern Bayelsa State. I am the Ark of Noah. You all need to come inside as we are about to sweep away the PDP from Bayelsa,” he said.

Sylva who visited the palace of the paramount ruler of the community, King Godwin Igodo, urged traditional rulers in the state to support the APC and his candidature for more prosperous years.

He said, “Some people say that traditional rulers should not be partisan. But would you not be partisan if your son is contesting an election? I am your son and am contesting.”
