The former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe, Monday, tied the allegations of wrong assets declaration and bribery being levelled against him by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, to a diligent role he played as an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the presidential election result collation Center in Abuja.
Elder Orubebe, who was reacting to the invitation extended to him to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, on November 9, 2015 to answer to the allegations, noted that his prosecutors are looking for something out of nothing to dent his hard earned integrity.
Orubebe, while defending the actions he termed as his ‘unequivocal loyalty’ to former President Goodluck Jonathan, pointed out that, no amount of intimidation will force him to compromise standards.
The former minister who wondered why he has become the demolition target of some political powers in the country because of his role at the collection Center where he sought for fairness and justice, said, “I will never compromise standards even when all odds are against him.”
He said he does not regret working for Jonathan the same way he does not regret supporting incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in 2003 as state Chairman of ANPP in Delta State.
He said, ‘it is no longer news that I supported President Muhammadu Buhari committedly and deligently when I was the state Chairman of ANPP in Delta State where I worked hard with nine (9) other state chairmen to ensure PMB’s emergence as party flag bearer in 2003.’
The former minister who recalled that he visited Dutse in late night because of PMB in 2003 said, it is wrong to attempt to humiliate a just man who contributed so much to set the country on the path of greatness but visiting the creeks to preach peace and the need to embrace ceasefire, a feat that has better the nation’s lot.
Orubebe who believes that his prosecutors are looking for something out of nothing to dent his hard earned integrity said, ‘Nigerians are witnesses to the litany of illegalities being woven by desperate politicians.
This bunch of allegations of bribery and others levelled against me and my trial in the public domain is an attempt to rob me of my respect and am not unaware that I became the prime demolition target because of my overt and unalloyed support for former President Jonathan.
He said, ‘if for the show of loyalty to former President Jonathan and my party that am being lynched, then, the decision on appropriate reaction belongs to sincere Nigerians.
On the alleged bribe of N50m, he said, as a minister of God, I built a Christian Center which I named ‘Glory Sanctuary’ a semi Christian library and a sort of Bethel for pastors and Christians. As a founder, I inspected their financial book and discovered a huge N20m in their account and demanded to know the source.
I was told it was a Nicodemus ‘seed faith’ from the petitioner and I quickly ordered them to refund the money on October 23, and later to the petitioner on October 24 of the same 2012 .’
“The bank statements are there as evidence and even the EFCC and the Force Headquarters can be contacted to ascertain my facts,” he stated. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Why is it that any little thing people start saying it is witch hunting? Mr. Orubebe, if they invite you to The CCT, and you know you are clean, what will it take you to go there and clear yourself. You people should stop being silly and petty. I do not think it is healthy for us all to always mention witch hunting when you can simply and quietly go there and clear yourself. Also note that Nigerians are all watching and if there is any foul play we will raise alarm. Besides, you are a very negligible person to be noticed by CCT. Please stop this noise making and do the needful.
ReplyDeleteIf other Nigerians reason this way the fight against corruption is half won. Though it is not out of place for the corrupt elite to sponsor hungry on line image makers in their desperate attempt to divide public opinion.
DeleteVery well said
Deletewhen Orubebe was invited to the CCT, was he invited quietly?. he has the right to say his side so that dumbs like you would not crucify him before he is found guilty! Beside, he did not say he would not go to the CCT but to state his side of the story so that some of us who are apolitical can rightly discern and see what are the true intent of the present government

DeleteErubebe has no integrity, he neglected the Niger Delta when he has opportunity to developed the region through NDDC. He connived with staff and stole the budget for project..Time has come for erubebe to be neglected. Answer your invitation, note that CCT has the right to invites any Nigerian. Th is not the time to write CV by telling us that you once worked for Buhari
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 11.01 you are correct. Elder Orubebe can easily go to CCT to clear himself is a statement of fact. But the answer question you should ask yourself is this. Why is it that the governors and ex minister that are being invited for questions by efcc are mainly from the opposition except saraki who of course went against his party's wish.....
ReplyDeleteDoes it mean that apc all apc governors, senators etc are clean? My brother I don't think you need a prophet to tell you that the whole thing is which hunting.
And you cannot stop people from expressing their views. They must tell the way they feel. If they call it witch hunting, respect it as such.
ReplyDeleteGod bless u 4 this advice to Orubebe and others in his shoes seeking petty sympathy from the masses.
ReplyDeleteMr Orubebe, I would gladly advice you stop all this media stories and clear yourself of what you are accused of. One thing that struck my mind now is a seed you made mentioned of ,when it happened as at the said time, was there any media attention you drew so everyone can know that something of such came into being. If it was returned, you don't have to worry yourself. Wish you success at the CCT, we really need to know those who destroyed this country of ours leaving the poor to their poor detriment why the rich becomes multi. I never wanted PMB but am beginning to like his government. So far we are knowing somethings we never aware of and opening all eyes at the end of the day. May God help us in this country.
ReplyDeleteThanks, for this great contribution.
DeleteStory teller Orubene,Judas Iscariot was once a trusted disciple of Jesus Christ as well
ReplyDeleteWitch hunt or not, does he have anything to hide? We already know about your"integrity" as evidenced by your conduct after the General elections. Pls go and prove your integrity and innocence at the cct.
ReplyDeleteBroda Orubebe. Simply tell us how much came to your ministry during your tenure and what you did or accomplshed. Am sure u will not open ur mouth again if u have anything called integrity and loyalty to truth and what is right in you. Òruè.
ReplyDeleteWhen one is doing justice let fight be carry out in all d party. Dat is when Nigerian will see d fight as a justify one. Let people like former River governor be invite by efcc or cct
ReplyDeleteThat man Orubebe is richer than Bayelsa State. How did he make all the monies? Please go and face CCT.
