FG using Remita to defraud Nigeria —Fayose

Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has accused the Federal Government of using an e-Payment firm, Remita to defraud Nigeria, saying he would not attend a meeting summoned by the government to discuss the Treasury Single Account, TSA.

This came as the governor said should the All Progressives Congress, APC, decide to boycott the forthcoming local government elections in Ekiti, the exercise would still hold on December 19, as scheduled.

Fayose in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka claimed that the TSA was a policy aimed at raising money for the forthcoming Kogi and Bayelsa States governorship polls.

His words: ‘’Ekiti State is entitled to its own policies and it is not under any obligation to accept Federal Government policies, especially the TSA that is already robed in the garment of fraud. I therefore wish to state categorically that Ekiti State is not interested in the TSA policy and since the state is not interested, I, as the custodian of the popular mandate of the entire people of the state will not attend any meeting called by the Federal Government on the TSA.

“TSA is also meant to enrich some individuals for doing virtually nothing and that can be seen from the discovery of N25 billion that already accrued to just a single company in one month. How can the Federal Government justify a transaction in which a single company gets one percent, amounting to N25 billion in one month?

“Shouldn’t the one per cent commission have been negotiated downward to like 0.1 percent which would have reduced the N25 billion to N2.5 billion? Even manufacturing companies, with thousands of employees don’t make N25 billion profit in one month.’’

  1. I agree with mr Fayose on this.
If true, then baba needs to act.
25B just for providing the platform for the transfer of the funds? I'm sure even the software on the platform doesn't cost 10% of the 25B.
Even Remitta should be fined for collecting such fees, haba!!!

  2. This is what we are talking about. Anti-corruption fighting and yet you indulge people like Tinubu. That, to me, is the greatest of all corruption. God help Nigeria!

Just one deal can fetch a company 25billion naira? a small company for that matter. we are watching, Fayose fire on!!!

  5. Shut up already, all the politicians against the TSA are just throwing tantrums for not being able to steal. It was Jonathan that signed the agreement with REMITA, not Buhari. TSA has come to stay.

  6. Gentlemen, Remita is a platform for money transaction that is been used by banks and other companies in nigeria for bank transactions and the charge is basic for all organizations using the platform.

Fayose is just been mischievous and wants to suave peoples opinion by politicizing what is not necessary.

The contract for this service with REMITA was concluded and agreed during GEJ's regime and the past government has been paying the 1% charge.
Is it now that the volume f transaction is so big that he is crying foul? It is only in this country that big fools will have admirers! Shame on the Ekiti people for bringing out their best as their governor!.

  7. Gej signed it and so! Thought he was a very corrupt man who did nothing but 'allowed the nations treasury to be looted'. Now this one is not one of his corrupt practices because it favour's an APC chieftain. What are we talking about?
