Expose Buhari’s ministers if you see them flying first-class - Ben Murray-Bruce

The senator representing Bayelsa East, Mr. Ben Murray-Bruce, on Tuesday urged the soon-to-be-inaugurated President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministers to embark on cost-saving measures.

The inauguration of the ministers-designate will take place on Wednesday.

A minister-designate, Senator Chris Ngige, had on Friday disclosed that members of the soon-to-be constituted Federal Executive Council would serve without some perks of office associated with past government officials.

He said ministers would not operate with huge retinues of aides and long convoy of vehicles.

Speaking at the end of a two-day presidential retreat organised for ministers-designate by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ngige said it was the desire of the present administration to block all leakages in the economy.

He said, “We shall operate a lean economy because we are going to block areas of leakages, retinues of aides, protocol staff. Large convoys of cars are things that will not fly in this administration.

“The important thing is that we want to move our people from where they are now; they are in abject poverty, a situation that affects about 75 per cent of the populace.

“So, we need to actually restructure the political and social structures of the country and that is what we are going to do. That means poverty will reduce.”

But Murray-Bruce, the founder of an entertainment conglomerate, the Silverbird Group, in a series of tweets, asked his followers to expose any minister caught flying first-class or riding in long convoy of cars.

He said, “Let’s monitor Buhari’s ministers. If you see them flying first-class, take a picture; send to me. Silverbird TV will air it.

“If you see Buhari’s ministers with excessively long convoys, take a picture and send to me. If you see ministers abusing power (beat red light, security harassing citizens), send to me.”

Is it wrong for ministers to fly first-class, what are your thoughts about Murray-Bruce's tweet ?

  1. Mr common sense, I have long respected your strides in adding value to Nigeria from the early days of Silverbird Productions till date.
However, your entrance into politics has of course changed you, but not necessarily for the better. Please note, there is nothing like "Buharis ministers", what we have are "Nigeria's ministers" as they are not working for Buhari but Nigeria.
You are a well respected public figure and this should be reciprocated in all you say and do.
This is beyond party, tribe and sentiments, but all we do is and should be for a New Nigeria.
And I am just speaking common sense!!!

  4. I shouldn't have dignified Ben Bruce with a comment but for the sake of letting him know what even a kindergarten will not take for granted, i have no option than to tutor him. Ben, what you are trying to promote in your organization is a yellow journalism ; the seventh century style of selling a product. At times, most of these so called media executives are people of little minds.

  7. Ben Murrey Bruce is a First Class HYPOCRATE!!! This is the same Ben Bruce who was appointed as NTA DG a few years ago, and what he did during Nigeria Hosting of 2003 All African Games as DG NTA, when he got fraudulently involved with the contract, purchase and disposal of the BMW cars used for the games VIP's. This lead to his immediate sacking by the Obasanjo Administration...Ben Murrey Bruce has no MORAL right to tell any Nigerian to be a vigilante and be watching his so called "Buhari Ministers". He's been running his mouth like one with Cholera-like diarrhea using his Silver Bird TV as an extension of his political platform. He should know that not everyone has come down with mental amnesia regarding his past dark exploit as DG NTA. Ben Murrey Bruce should know that "one who lives in a glass house should not throw stones"!!

  8. Readers should follow the link to read and know the pretender and hypocrate who always shouts he is "just talking common sense" anywhere he sees an opportunity but he fails to know that Nigerians also know the common sense why he's suddenly a "peoples advocate" on good governance. see link:http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/182739-senator-elect-ben-bruce-under-fire-for-anti-corruption-tweets.html

  9. Dr Ramond Dokpesi AIT and Ben Murray Bruce Silverbird TV (STV) are both into an unholy alliance to use their TV and Radio stations for rubbishing and tarnishing the image of the Buhari Government while promoting the PDP agenda. They will never succeed Amen.

  10. This man is fast becoming another Fayose, just opening his mouth at will saying rubbish, "Buhari's Ministers", what nonsense. Besides, is there any law that bars a minister from 1st class? Why am I even wasting my time on this attention seeker?

  11. Is there substance in what he has said? PMB already laid the ground rules for ministers! Not being flamboyant is one of the rules, please check your facts first before insults! Is travelling first class not flamboyance? That is if you can ordinarily not afford it or are not used to it
