Edo lawmakers walk out commissioner for improper dressing

Members of Edo House of Assembly, on Wednesday asked the Commissioner for Health, Mrs Aihamuwa Eregie to vacate the Assembly for improper dressing.

Eregie was asked to leave the hallowed chamber during the presentation of the 2015 budget performance of the Ministry of Health.

Deputy Speaker, Mr Bright Osayande, (APC- Ovia North-East II) who raised the observation, said the commissioner was not properly dressed and should not be allowed to appear before the house.
Mr Adjoto Kabiru, (APC Akoko-Edo) who concurred with the observation, said that the commissioner’s dressing contravened the house rule.

“Mr speaker, you will recall that when one of us was not properly dressed, he was asked to leave the chamber.

“So the commissioner should excuse us because she is not properly dressed, “ Kabiru said.
Other lawmakers, who commented on the point raised by the deputy speaker, gave their unanimous support that the Commissioner should quit the chamber.

They asked the commissioner to leave despite pleas by Mrs Elizabeth Ativie, member representing Uhunmwode constituency.

The Speaker, Mr Victor Edoror, thereafter directed the commissioner to leave the chamber.
He said that a new date would be communicated to her to appear for the briefing.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the commissioner wore long sleeve shirt on trouser.

  1. A public figure who should be an epitome of good conduct and moral uprightness! What a shame! As events are unfolding, we are watching.

  2. She shows she is from Edo state. But good way to teach people like her to lay good example for the younger ones to emulate.

  4. So quick to judge they didn't describe her dressing just that it was improper for the house. This is a very broad term and note that some people can be asked to withdraw for as little as not putting on a cap on traditional outfit.

  7. What is wrong when a Lady wears Long sleeve blouse over a pair of trousers? The house members should search their hearts of what they were thinking or looking? Perhaps she's beautiful and curvy, all these useless men

  9. @Mahuntalive, it seems u ar one of those that promotes or see nothing wrong with a woman, married woman for that matter to wear trousers that expose the shape of her botox or even her private part. Am sure she is a "so-called Christian " cos a Muslim or a true Christian can't do that. Shame for "so-called civilization and Christian freedom " seduction is a SIN. A CHRISTIAN is not a SINER and a SINER is not a CHRISTIAN. period !

  10. Infact, same should be applied to some churches, that turned the sacred house of God to party hall. They allowed prostitutes to pave their seductive trick to the society. Wear anyhow dress to the church and make nonsense of Deut.22:5 . No wonder the case of rape is on the increase... Mostly Christian women. The most annoying part of it is even some pastors wives dress worse than prostitutes. Shame! Shame!!
