The Nigerian Army has said that it has received report of some elements within the Nigerian Army and outside, to use the social media circle to ridicule the Army and the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai, for reasons best known to them.
A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, said the elements intend “to execute this plan as from next month, December 2015, using all means possible lies, fabricating baseless stories, falsehood, publishing and broadcasting them through some designated print and electronic media, most especially the Social Media.”
The statement added: “The Nigerian Army has identified some of the officers involved and their collaborators. The officers are being investigated to unravel their motive and motivation. The public and the media are please requested to be careful and wary of these disgruntled persons. They should please disregard any such material from them.
“The Nigerian Army holds the media in high esteem. The Nigerian media is one of the best in the world and have consistently been partners in progress and very supportive, understanding and cooperative with the Nigerian Army especially in the fight against terrorism and insurgency. This at times comes at the risk of their personal safety and corporate existence.
“The role of the media in nation building and conflict resolution, peace building and social responsibility is never in doubt. They have proven to be very important stakeholders in our collective efforts to restore peace and stability in our great nation.
“With this and so many other things, the media, especially the online publications, should not be involved or lured into such dubious campaign. As always, our doors are open for clarification, enquiries and reactions on any issue concerning the Nigerian Army before filing or publicizing such stories.
“It is imperative to note that the fight against Boko Haram terrorists is at critical stage, any attack on the Nigerian Army will be counter productive and serious distraction on the fight against terrorism and insurgency. More so, as we are busy trying to defeat Boko Haram terrorists based on the given presidential mandate.
“Consequent upon this, we are calling on all Nigerians not to fall prey to their campaign of calumny. This is because their evil intents would be distractive and capable of reversing the gains on the fight against Boko Haram Terrorists.
“Therefore, all hands must be on deck to ensure the defeat of Boko Haram terrorists and safety of lives and property in our country before the end of the year.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDeleteThese elements within the Nigerian Army collaborating with others from outside Nigerian Army are true enemies of our great country. And those collaborators are the ones that deserve severe punishment and not those brave men and women in uniforms that were sent to the battle zones without proper equipment to execute the fight against Boko Harram.
As for those devils outside the Army must be punished for working against the nation. We all know that those living big on money they are making from supplying both the government and Boko Harram will never want an end to the fight. The best for them is to identify them and throw them into prison.
Let us keep praying that Allah helps our Army on Boko Harram and their collaborators.
Bro, please don't waste your time believing Nigerian Army. If at all there are some element that want to release information about the Army, those elements are just trying to tell Nigerians the truth about what is going on in the country. Nigeria government including the army, will never tell the citizens the truth.Last week, the army told us that about 105 soldiers were missing, after two days they told us that they are back without telling us whether they came back dead or alive so that we won't start asking how they died. The information is already everywhere.
DeleteYes, I agree. Do not be surprise that if Boko Haram is in your backyard in Lagos you will see the Nigerian army saying they have cleared all the Boko Haram terrorist. Not trusting the army is a beginning of wisdom. While you think there is peace, destruction will come without notice. I think the military personnel with such information would open the eyes of Nigerians
Deletewhy is Nigerian Army scared of what they want to expose to the public and are already shouting we should disregard what we don't even know yet. If you like call them disgruntled or what ever, allow them to throw their stories to the public, the public always have a way of filtering the truth. A CLEAR CONCIENSE THEY SAY FEARS NO ACCUSATION
ReplyDeleteThank you. What a wasteful army rant
DeleteNa wa o. Damage control coming before Damage. Talk about proactivity. This article raises more questions than answers. What has the Nig Army hidden in their closet?
ReplyDeleteNigeria army just like any army in the world have top secret. However in Nigeria, most of the top secret is in detriment to Nigeria. The army should not fear if they have done the right thing. I call on the press to make public any eye opener to things happening in the country. I take the success story with a pinch of salt.
