The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Tuesday alleged an attempt on his life by a light skinned foreigner suspected to be a mercenary.
The attempt which has been reported to the police involved repeated failed attempts to crash into Senator Ekweremadu’s official vehicle which was in a convoy from his residence to the National Assembly complex yesterday.
A statement issued by his special adviser on media, Mr. Uche Anichukwu which recounted the incident read thus:
“The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, escaped suspected assassination attempt, Tuesday.
“The attempt occurred at about 10:00am between Apo Flyover and Dantata Construction Company’s yard, close to the Old Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Headquarters junction on his way to work.
“The suspected assassins who operated in a tinted, white-coloured Mercedez Benz AMG E63 without a plate number, were chauffeured by a long-bearded light skinned foreigner, apparently a mercenary.
“The vehicle, which was positioned by the Apo Bridge, on noticing that the Deputy President of the Senate’s convoy took the right turn to join the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway instead, made a turn. The occupants attempted to attack the convoy, but were blocked. The driver violently broke into the convoy and they made several frantic attempts to attack the Senator’s official car.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Nigeria politics assuming a new dimension. "CHANGE"!!! Up change! As events are unfolding, we are watching.
ReplyDeleteDid you report it to the police? You guyz are really bringing your A game to the table in a desperate move to still be relevant politically, all these ploy are a move to cool down any move by the ruling party not to impeach you, seeing that the relationship between Buhari and Saraki is closing up and the victim of such a close up is your position, then you and your party men are looking ahead with such allegations, if they want to impeach you nobody would want you death, because they have got all what it takes to remove you constitutionally. Continue heating up the polity to weep up sentiment from your Biafra Agitators we Nigerians got it all covered...;Even if we Nigerians would not want APC again tomorrow certainly not PDP far from it....not an option....... I agree that the IBO’S has been undone in this silly Nigerian Marriage, but not a single Ibo man is aspiring to a position of leadership, all you guyz does is fall behind a situation I see as disgraceful, you guyz need a change in political strategy and I bet you no Nigeria death or alive would say you guyz don't deserve it, Look at the last PDP conference that was held just last week, you Ibos in the forefront Biafra are still agitating that power goes back to the north in 2019, and even went ahead to beg an old man like IBB to come and be your party flag bearer yet you are crying of deprivation shame!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile your article initially seemed to be spot on with your enquiry as to wherher the DSP had reported the incident to the police, unfortunately it turned out to be a waste of space and revealed you to be an ethnic bigot and no different than those agitating for Biafra if not worse. You would do yourself a lot of service by learning how to communicate in English language if you chose that medium. Apart from the warped and hate filled analysis, the grammatical errors are symptomatic of the problem with Nigeria. Half-baked people in all endeavours who are psuedo-political analysts and public commentators.

DeleteWhat did his police escort do ?
ReplyDeleteWeak people always attack persons rather than address issues or state their opinion. Those that kill others would regret to realise their chase for earthly vanities. Love is ultimate.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they want to cause crisis especially now that the protest is going on
ReplyDeleteThe issue on ground transcend party issues. Nigerians should not play politics with issues that threatens our unity, the police should be the first to know about this event not the press. The Deputy Senate President is a national position that should not be treated as a party position with unhealthy sentiments. The police should wake up and our press should not heat up the polity.
