There was drama and real comic relief when the APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed appeared in the Senate chamber at 3.25pm On Tuesday. As he entered, there was laud applause mostly by APC Senators.
Watch video below...
Lai Mohammed who bowed to PDP leadership three times, APC leadership four times, bowed six times before Senate President Saraki, a gesture that elicited further applause.
Senate President Saraki then announced, “ the nominee before you Distinguished Senators is from Kwara State.”
It was apparent that the gesture was well understood by the lawmakers.
He then asked if Senators have Mohammed’s CV. There was deafening “yes, yes, yes” in the chamber.
Even before Saraki could conclude, Senate Leader, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, stood up from his seat and moved that “Alhaji Lai Mohammed is very well known to this chamber. I move that he should take a bow and go.”
The chamber became some what rowdy as PDP senators, in a way, opposed the motion.
Senator Saraki said that Mohammed should tell the chamber a little about himself in line with the convention of the Senate.
Mohammed complied and introduced himself, adding that he was in the chamber to seek the support of the Senators to be confirmed as minister, saying that it demands higher service to be in government.

What bunch of jesters we have here! If this happen to be the daily business in the NASS,then, governance is a joke. I'd expected a serious screening not childish behavior of both the nominee and the entire senate members who're s'ppose to be distinguished.
ReplyDeleteThis is rubbish and a child's play. Even Lai Mohammed himself could not speak to tell Nigerians his career history and a little manifesto on how to carry out his job if given the opportunity. Well this a settlement of his job to APC.
ReplyDeleteFools!
ReplyDeleteThis nonsense called screening needs to stop. It's nothing but childishness, wastefulness, and a show of the ignorance that dominates our society. Nigeria has not yet embraced maturity or civilization. We laugh when we should be crying. And the funny thing is that these clowns are the highest paid in the world, even as stupid as they are. What a shame to the nation. Ofcourse, what do you expect from the leadership of this rogue called Saraki?
