Annually, SleepingInAirports, an internationally respected travel website conducts a survey asking travellers to rate their airport experiences based on the services and facilities available within the terminal, cleanliness, customer service, comfort and their overall airport experience.
Of the 10 worst international airports in the world, the Nigerian airport was the only African airport on the list.
WORST AIRPORTS OF 2015
Port Harcourt International Airport (Nigeria)
King Abdulaziz International Airport (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia)
Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu, Nepal)
Tashkent International Airport (Uzbekistan)
Simon Bolivar International Airport (Caracas, Venezuela)
Toussaint Louverture International Airport (Port au Prince, Haiti)
Hamid Karzai International Airport (Kabul, Afghanistan)

Those that top its charts for worst airports in the world collected the most negative feedback from voters over the past year.
These airports fall flat in terms of providing any kind of enjoyable overall airport experience.
It said “instead, they’re dirty, uncomfortable, unfriendly and lack the most basic of services and amenities. They elicit passionate critiques from those who visit them, and countless warnings for future travellers to avoid these places at all costs.”
However, in its 2015 Airport Survey, the travel website reported that while Changi International Airport, Singapore, was named the best, the Port Harcourt International Airport, in Rivers State, Nigeria was named the worst international airport in the world. That's thanks to GEJ, stella oduah and Wike all because of Ameachi
ReplyDeleteI stopped using Port Harcourt airport a few years ago. The airport employees (Customs & immigration) are mostly thieves and worthless individuals. A few years ago during processing out, they took a lone tablet of lux soap from my wife because she did not produce a receipt for the purchase of this soap. My wife happens to be foreign and had purchased this soap to show her friends when she got back to the United States; but these shameless rogues took it from her, not minding what type of smears this has on the image of the country. I was not there with her and she did not want to argue over a silly tablet of soap. I have had my own experiences too and so have my friends, so I decided not to use that airport any more. I now fly into Lagos, then Owerri. That's much better, even though it's longer and may require an overnight stay. Toilet facilities at PortHarCourt airport are lacking and can be compared to primitive standards. Nigeria, wake up!
ReplyDeleteI think PDP is at work here to discredit Amaechi as minister.
