Fulani herdsmen attack Falae again

For the second time in two weeks, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae was attacked by Fulani herdsmen, in Ilado village, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. Except that it was the cows belonging to Fulani herdsmen, who overrun the farm of the former presidential candidate this time.

This happened barely two weeks after Falae, also a former Minister of Financ,e was kidnapped by suspected herdsmen from the farm but was released four days after.

The Farm Manager, Mr Bruno ‎Akhigbodemen, alleged that the cows brought to the farm by the Fulani herdsmen, destroyed over one kilometre plantation of maize on Monday morning.

Akhigbodomen, who conducted journalists round the farmland on Tuesday evening, explained that the herdsmen invaded the farm at about 2am on Monday, leading to the destruction of the plantation.

He explained that ‎one of the workers, who saw them raised the alarm but before other workers could come around, the invaders had left with their herds.

The Farm Manager added that immediately the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party was informed of the incident, he reported it to the state Police Command after which some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad were deployed in the farm.

A police source said the detectives combed the neighbouring villages for the suspects but they were unable to make any arrest as the herdsmen were said to have left the area.

Describing the incident as devastating to his boss and the entire workers of the farm, the manager appealed to the government and the security agencies in the state to be proactive on the security of the farmland.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, said on the telephone that he had yet to be briefed on the incident at the time of filing this report.

  1. I believe, this invasion is deliberate and if the Federal Government or the State Government as well as relevant security agencies do not take immediate action to stem the tide of the wicked acts of these Fulani herdsmen, I only pray that the whole thing does not snowball into an inferno that, if care is not taken, may consume what should have been avoided NOW!

  2. evil men thrive where good men keep quiet or are confused or afraid. When one begins to blame a victim he becomes a coward. Yorubas should rise up to this insult. I personaly will join them in this fight even as I am from south east.. Abiola died, Bola Ige, Pa Rewane, Kudirat etc all killed by Fulani north. OBJ will not tell people that he did not kill Bola Ige because he knows who did. This is getting too much. The Ilorin that used to be a yoruba emirate now belongs to Fulani. What a shame. TUFIAKWA.

  3. Funny stories indeed. The police could not find the herdsmen and their cattle. Were they carted away in trucks, otherwise what is their walking speed that the police could not catch up with them? This is not funny!

  5. The menace of the herdsmen need to be curtailed now before it leads to another civil war. Government seem not to see the invasions by these herdsmen as a big problem. The same attention given to Boko Haram should be given to this menace. It's time the issue about the herdsmen is tackled by PMB who happens to be one of them. He is in the right place to address them because he knows them and knows the language they understand. Plateau and Benue States have had horrible attacks by these people. Now they ' re spreading their attacks to other parts of the country. Those being attacked and those whose properties are being destroyed will not stay mute and defenceless forever. Should nothing be done to stall these attacks, let nobody complain tomorrow when others retaliate o.

  6. Hmmmm. These fulani people are a total menace. In Igboland they destroy farmland, rape, maim and kill women, kill and maim the men and are involved in armed robbery on the highways and residential houses. State governments should bar them from entering their states. they should rear their cattle in fulani land and if we so desire to eat their beef, we import from their land. the annoying thing is that they now move their cattle along important streets in our cities not just in bushes anymore thereby messing up the streets with cow dung.

  12. Sometimes I wonder if the government would have kept mute if the tables were turned- if the fulanis were treated in this manner and they, by chance, decide not to retaliate (which every Nigerian knows is impossible), would the present government be quiet?
