The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, has issued a warrant for the immediate re-arrest of a purported FRSC official who was last Friday, detained by Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti, for allegedly violating traffic laws.
The FRSC Boss, said Mr. Adeola Alabi who was arrested by the Governor, for driving against traffic along Sawmill area of Ikere in Ekiti State, impersonated a corps official, adding that there is no record of Alabi, being a member of staff of the FRSC.
It was further gathered that Adeola Alabi, who was booked N20,000 by the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency in Ado Ekiti, is neither a staff of the Corps nor a member of the Special Marshal Unit of the Corps.
According to the Head Media Relations and Strategy, Bisi Kazeem, the Peugeot 505 vehicle driven by the offender with vehicle marked AG 738 FGB, as well as the owner is under investigation and the Corps has taken a position to expose the offender who is now guilty of impersonation to evade justice.
Kazeem also added that the Corps Marshal forbids that any FRSC staff violates traffic laws in the name of being members of the Corps.
According to him, the FRSC boss further reiterated his resolve to find out the identity of the suspect and to ensure that a thorough investigation is conducted while the offender is prosecuted accordingly.
He added that the Corps Marshal is using the opportunity to appeal to all the officials of FRSC and its sister agencies not to violate traffic laws, but be good ambassadors of the agencies they represent.
Mr, Kazeem further thanked the Governor, on behalf of the Corps Marshal for identifying with the “good road use culture” propagated by FRSC, noting that other Governors such as Sokoto, Ogun and Oyo state Governors had done similar things in the past.
