The Federal Government on Friday received the report on the establishment of a national carrier from the 13-member committee it set up in August to produce the document.
According to the government, the report contains recommendations that will guide it as it works towards establishing a national airline for the country.
It added that it was put together after the committee consulted with local and international partners.
The report was received by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation, Mrs. Binta Bello, at the headquarters of the ministry in Abuja. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Bad idea! Let the private sector worry about running airlines and let the federal government be a regulator. We don't need a national carrier. It failed woefully before, and it will fail woefully again. Even the most experienced and most sophisticated carriers around the world are struggling to keep flying, let alone Nigeria with our incompetence. This is an ill-advised idea.
ReplyDeleteIt will work if we keep corruption far away from us. A number of foreign airlines are using their near monopoly position to overcharge Nigerians who travel abroad. Our own carrier will not overcharge us.
ReplyDeleteWhat would make it not to work. It would work. What makes a lot of businesses to fail is management. And management is people. People's experience, people's attitude..etc. Once you get this right, then you are on the right track. There are success stories all over the world. There are also failure stories. Ours can be one of those success stories if the right people are there.
DeleteOh! So United Airlines, British Airways and Virgin that are struggling are not making profit because of corruption? This will be a huge drain on our resources.
