The backbone of the 2013 AFCON winning Super Eagles has crumbled futhermore, following the retirement of goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama, Nigeria forward Emmanuel Emenike early this morning announced his retirement from international football at the age of 28.
The Al Ain player who was top scorer at the 2014 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa took the decision for peace to reign in the Super Eagles where he felt should neither be a ‘family house’ nor a ‘threat zone’ to any individual.
Super Eagles player, Emmanuel Emenike took to his instagram page an hour ago to announce he is quitting the national team.
His words below...
"No more Eagles career! "After 5 great years, I am happy to announce that I have put full-stop to my Nationa team career for the sake of national peace. Its a pleasure for me to have played for this great country. I never regretted it and I think its the best time to end it. Millions thanks to all the fans who have been very supportive during the good and bad times. I am very proud of my performance, I am proud of my team mates and I am very proud of the nation called 'Nigeria'. My AFCON gold medal is a sign of great achievement, My AFCON topscorer award speaks a lot about my commitment and dedication to the team. Super Eagles is a camp not a family house, and it shouldn't be a threat zone for any individual. I have done according to our national anthem. "All my dreams came true in the national team, I dreamt to win Nations Cup for Nigeria after 20-years, I dreamt to played at the World Cup as well as to make a name for myself... In the space of five years, I got them. I'm a winner! "For every dissapointing fans, maybe due to my inability to re-establish my goal scoring instinct for Super Eagles, I will like to say I'm sorry but the ones I had scored counted well for the team. As long as Nigeria remains, you and I will always remember the name 'Emenike'. "Finally, I am happy to make a bow and continue supporting the team everytime. Up Eagles, God Bless Nigeria!

ReplyDeleteWhat is happening in super Eagle? One after the other , our great players our resigning. The management should wade in and resolve any bordering issue.
ReplyDeleteThese are people that have given their best to the nation. Do not throw them away in that fashion. It will not encourage dual citizens and the younger ones to pick Nigeria as a nation of their service.
Remember, you are in charge today. tomorrow may be another person turn. Let us treat others the way we will want to be treated. God bless Super Eagle! God bless Nigeria!!
. . . . . and he is prepping up to become the next Nigerian coach. Isn't that the pattern?

ReplyDeleteThe only thing constant in life is change. Soja go Soja come, Barrack remains
ReplyDeleteOliseh, Oliseh!! Oliseh!!! How many times did I call you? Shebi e dey sweet you now to rubbish senior players? May you not falter in all your qualifiers and championships. Else, na for outside the cold we go soon meet again... So long!
ReplyDeleteNigerian's are too sentimental about their players and that's why our football is not making progress. Olise is trying to build a new team spirit with no sacred cows and no special players and Nigerian's are complaining. Did we not see the team spirit after they scored against Burkina Faso? Please let those who still have hunger in them to play in Nigeria be allowed to play - and allow those who want to go, go. We need to build a new team over time and develope our home-grown talent. Let is stop blaming Olise- no player is bigger than the team. After all all these players couldn't qualify us for the last cup of nations.
