Are there no other governors that have stolen? leave Diezani alone - Ijaw group

President of the Ijaw Youth Council IYC, Udengs Eradiri has asked the antigraft agencies to leave embattled former petroleum minister, Dieziani Alison Madueke alone and focus on other governors who have been accused of stealing from their state treasuries.

Dieziani is facing money laundering charges in the UK. In a media parley over the weekend, Udeng said that the recent arrest of Dieziani by the British police has shown that president Buhari's anti-corruption campaign is targeted at the Ijaws.

“The UK government should stay away from Diezani. This was how they muscled up and now (Diepreiye) Alamieyeseigha is dead. Now they have started with Diezani.

They should leave Ijaw People alone. Are there no other governors that have stolen? Go to UK, almost all the streets are owned by northerners who stole Nigeria money.

As far as we are concerned, the anti-corruption fight is a fight against the Ijaw people. So why are they just on Goodluck Jonathan’s men, just to demonise Goodluck.

As far as we are concerned, the anti-corruption fight is a fight against the Ijaw people. Goodluck should have won Nobel Prize for peace. Goodluck deserves a Nobel peace prize, Goodluck deserves respect from Nigerians,” he said

He also accused the relevant security agencies of turning a blind eye on illegal mining in the north which according to him, is mostly operated by retired generals

“They say oil theft is economic sabotage, what of the illegal mining that are going on in the north? Is that not worst economic sabotage?. At a point there was lead poisoning as a result of illegal mining. The monies that they realize from illegal mining is huge, why do we not have the JTF policing illegal miners, knowing full well that the money realised from gold illegally mined is far much more than money realized from stolen oil.

Retired generals have mines of their own in the north, the statistics are there. Why are we not talking about those minerals in the north that are illegally mined to the pockets of individuals? Why is it that only Niger Delta oil that is in the pages of newspapers,” he asked.

  1. State governments have a responsibility to recover money stolen by their past governor and commissioners. The Federal Government has the responsibility to recover money stolen by the past president and ministers. Diezani was not a state governor but a federal minister. So the Federal Government has to recover money she and other federal ministers stole. These IYC people need some education.

    5. If Diezani stole money, she committed crime against God and against the Nigerian State. Same thing applies to all individuals in or out of government who engaged in corruption.
In my opinion, it is warped reasoning to for anybody to advocate that Diezani should not be prosecuted because not all those who stole are not being so prosecuted. Are they saying that because some other people have also stollen, it was right for her to have stollen our collective wealth?
The point to make should be to urge all State Governors to wage war against corruption in their respective states. It is crass immorality for people to advocate that corrupt officials should not be investigated on the grounds that other people who allegedly did the same thing are not also being probed.
Our dear President should not be distracted by such useless reasoning. He should systematically and intensely wage war against corruption, beginning with high profile cases. The masses are solidly behind the Federal Government's War Against Indiscipline and Corruption (WAIC). The noise being made by all these beneficiaries of corruption is understandable as their means of livelihood is being threatened.

  3. So you even know she has stolen? So foolish of you! Money that ought to have been used to develop your already messed up region is being siphoned in billion of dollars by a single individual and you are here barking like a wild Dog.

  4. Instead of the Ijows to clamour for all money to be recovered from all thieves, they ate clamouring for impunity for one thieve or the other. You people forget that this is your money, money meant for the future of your own kids, one idiot stole it and you are clamouring for pardon. In case you illiterates forget, it is your life and the future of your kids and grate grand kids you are pardoning for suffer, sickness, and poorverty. These money are meant to develop our lives, raise our standard of living. If we leave like Emiratis (Dubai citizens), is it a crime, instead you (Ijaw) people prefer such person to be pardoned.

  5. So you agree that she stole in the first place, that's a good confession from someone like you. And by the way you should take note that you are not under any obligation to talk, it is therefore better for you to keep mute if you dont have any thing good to talk about .

    1. Your writing shows that you have little education. An Ijaw - GEJ - ruled Nigeria for 6 years when oil price was sky high. He did not improve your lot. Instead, he allowed a few people to steal all the money that should have been used to give people like you a good education so you could write better English. Now you are here saying a thief should be left alone with her loot - even when it impoverishes you! Really sad!

    2. So you are trying to canvass them into joining your struggle so that they can cme and become second class citizen in your proposed Biafra Republic after you have failed to cajoled the yorubas to join you in the last civil war, hence you tagged them traitor because they are not some dummy you can control with your "born-to-rule" mentality. Instead of you to tell them the truth that their leaders are the ones siphoning the funds that are meant for their developement so they can demand accountability from them. What has Asari Dokubo done for them with all the money he got lawfully and unlawfully from the last administration. Instead he went and build companies and schools in SA, he did not even consider the employment status of his own people that he stole from.

    3. Dumb ass! I am a Niger deltan for your information. With all the oil being tapped from the region, is there any meaningful development to show for it? Yet some selected few are voraciously eating up our money while our land remain underdeveloped.

  10. I am surprised at the so called leader of ijaw youth. If there's any regulating body in the group, I will strongly recommend the removal of her from that position she's presently occupying. How can you come online and write all this shiit. You are advocating for deziani to be release, I want you to sit down and imagine what the money she stole can do in your region. I am beginning to fear for the future of our unborn children, if the so called youth in this new era do not want to fight for the right course. Your sister has insulted your land both locally and internationally by abusing the trust and believe we had in her. Am not surprised anyway, you will definitely do same if you are given that opportunity. Please try as much as possible to distinguish yourself from all this corruption because everyday for the thief but one day for the owner. The spirit of millions of Nigerian that are suffering will ask this people, because there's still God in heaven who listen to the cry of this people and God is passing judgement accordingly. Deceit from evil so you will experience peace in all level of living.

  11. I am surprised you are not aware that your so called leaders in Niger Delta killed your wealth by stealing the monies that should have been used to develop the region. It is known to all Nigerians that your so called chiefs in Niger delta states refused to use the monies paid to them by either government or oil companies in their domains to develop their communities to develop them. They blatantly refused to allow the government or oil companies to help as they prefer to have the monies shared to the detriment of their people and now you have the gut to say that government blocked the meaning development of Niger delta...you are one of the problems of your communities if you cannot publicly frown at the evil your so called leaders have done to their people in the name of cornering and looting the larges that has been giving through them to these communities over the years.

  13. She is innocent until proved order wise. Have mercy on the poor woman who is currently battling with cancer. She needs our prayers. After all 2.8 billion naira which got lost in 1978 was later discovered to be false 'rumor'. That time Naira was more powerful than the US Dollar.

    1. "Innocent until proven guilty?" For sure! But so far we have a wealth of evidence to show that she has looted the nation blind. That is why we pray she recovers from her illness so she can face trial. If she dies without facing trial, it would be a huge loss for the country because it would then be very difficult to trace all her loot. If she is innocent, let her prove it at the trial. But dishonest tribalists are saying she should not even face trial!

  14. These ijaw youth are cursed if this is the way they reason. Back in the riverine ijaw communities are signs of poverty. Yet their own so called leaders are stealing the state dry. This is crime against humanity. To justify stealing is the worst form of immorality, we are not surprised when their own with PhD could reason in same manner

  15. It's obvious many in this platform are speaking and reasoning ignorantly. It should be noted that Diezani wasn't the first petroleum minister that has ever occupied that position. Can any of you answer in sincerity whether the so-called former ministers had not stolen from the treasury? Many of you who are only fed from the resource from the Ijaws and would never contribute anything would conclude that she has stolen. Let it be known that Diezani, took what is rightly hers. Is this money from the proceed of cocoa or cattle? Over 60yrs the God-given resources of the Ijaw land is being exploited with the severe impact and degradation of the environment. What has the Nigeria nation done about it, instead execute publicly people who try to speak-out. Who are owners of oil blocs, are they not the so called Hausas and Yorubas? If the present administration wants to be sincere in its fight against corruption, let all the oil blocs be returned to their owners. How would you call someone who possess what he does not have? Would that not be called stealing as well? Stealing is simple put "taking that which doesn't belong to you". If stealing is generally accepted as corruption, then those in possession the oil wells in I jaw land are corrupt therefore should be prosecuted as well.
