Super Falcons drop 9 places in latest FIFA ranking



Nigeria’s Super Falcons have lost nine places in the latest world’s women football ranking released by FIFA Friday.

The women team who were on number 29 in the world in the last ranking three months ago, are on number 38 when the world football governing body made the quarterly ranking public on Friday.



The Super Falcons however maintain their top spot as the number one team on the African continent, with Cameroonian Indomitable Lionesses coming second though they are on number 45 in the world.
Equatorial Guinea, who are third in Africa are on number 50 in the world, while the African fourth team, Ghana are 52 in world ranking.

South Africa, who are on number fifth position in Africa, are world’s number 61 female team, with Ivory Coast (62), Algeria (79), Morocco (81), Tunisia (82) and Egypt (89) are on numbers sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth respectively on the African continent.

Meanwhile, the American ladies hold their grip on the world top spot with Germany, France, Japan, England, Korea Democratic Republic, Brazil, Sweden, Australia and Norway taking that order on the world’s top 10.

According to FIFA, two teams have this month achieved their highest-ever rankings – Equatorial Guinea (50th, up 5) and New Caledonia (94th, new team in the ranking).

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be published on 18 December 2015.
