Saraki's trial adjouned to October 21, released on bail on self recognition

The trial of the Senate President, Dr. Olubukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja, has been adjouned to October 21.

The Senate President is facing a 13-count charge bordering on alleged false declaration of assets.

Saraki, who appeared at the tribunal on Tuesday, pleaded not guilty to all the charges when they were read out to him.

Counsel to both parties argued back and forth in a bid to swing the case in their favour.

Saraki has been released on bail on self recognition.

  1. For that single act of attending the hearing like a normal law abiding and responsible citizen of nigeria shows some respect for the judicial institutions there. Not very nice if politicians because of their post or connections felt they are above the law.He should let the law takes it's course and all evidences presented, then it's for the court to decide.Simply blaming everything on political enemies only makes sense to foolish and gullible nigerians.Being acused of an offence/crime is nothing new, individuals accused of wrongdoing must rely on the court system whereby they go to proof their innocence and bring the so called political enemies to shame

  2. Something I don't quite understand is why cases get adjourned. What does the judge expect to happen between now and 21st October? Is it to gather more evidence, or just a case of dragging a case to feed the lawyers? Perhaps a legal mind can educate us on this adjournment business.
