Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Monday, expressed joy over her new job to join the board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates.
The former finance minister, had also announced that she will also be joining US investment bank, Lazard’s sovereign advice division.
Okonjo-Iweala who tweeted via her Twitter handle, @NOIweala said: “I’m excited to join GAVI to immunize 300 million more children in the next five years and save 5 million to 6 million more lives.”
The new portfolios, however, follow her second stint as Nigeria’s finance minister, which ended in May after the Goodluck Jonathan-led government was voted out of office.
Okonjo-Iweala has spent the past three decades working on fiscal management and governance systems in Africa through 25 years at the World Bank, most recently as a managing director, and twice as finance minister in what is now the continent’s biggest economy.
She has although, recently come under sharp criticisms particularly by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, over issues bordering on alleged corruption in the last administration.
Okonjo-Iweala has argued that her work on transparency and anti-corruption as finance minister under both Mr Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo has been unfairly “brushed aside.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Go there and work, where things work almost on it's own because the institution are there for ages. May I ask you, can you steal a pin there without the strong institution on ground holding you? You came here and took the advantage of the porous institution and abuse Nigerian. You where the minister of finance right from OBJ time as President up to GEJ. What can you boast of as in what you have put on ground that will stand the test of time as it concerned our economy. For me you were, a no achiever. That's my personal submission. Enjoy your foreign appointment "where things work"
ReplyDeleteNa your mama wey be ashawo you dey insult. Bloody hegoat.
DeleteYour English and reasoning reflect your level of intelligence. Poor you! Those who fail to recognize excellence when they see it will remain mediocre for life. But may God help you.
DeleteThanks to Almighty Allah for giving us a President that doesn't accept nonsense.
ReplyDeleteMy candid advice is that you go there as your true self and not an instrument of stealing as it was here back home during your services under the just defeated President.
you have always had a BARRACK economy that will never respond to conventional economic models. Pump oil, sell oil share the proceeds, steal major part of the proceed and the circle continues.
ReplyDeleteAm beginning to suspects some fools here commenting ,can US appoint someone who is guilty of corruption as claimed by Oshiomole?American man told Oshiomole a minister stole billions and its Iweala?do u guys have brain at all?dis shows dat corruption noise s around is just whitchunting,Jonathan administration is corrupt yet Adesina was appointed president in Africa,Okonjo has won awards overseas after Gej administration yet Gej administration is corrupt, well are watching o.
ReplyDeleteWhen fire burns, it doesn't talk. It just keeps consuming everything in its path. When the sun shines, it doesn't need the endorsement of a geographer to brighten things around. Where good, honest brains exist, they don't need the appraisal of a certificate-shy brat to be seen. Similar good, honest brains see them and quickly project them. Shine on beautiful woman. Let those who glory in illiteracy go and bury their heads in shame.
