Prepare your handover notes, APC tells Dickson

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Bayelsa State chapter, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe, has said the APC would defeat the Peoples Democratic in the December 5 governorship election in the state by a landslide.

He, therefore, advised the Peoples Democratic Party government led by Governor Seriake Dickson to begin to prepare its handover notes now.

He stated this in Yenagoa on Saturday while receiving an award.

“The PDP-led government in Bayelsa State should be preparing its handover notes by now because the APC is winning the governorship election by a landslide,” the opposition party chairman said.

Ahead of the September 22 governorship primary of the APC, Orunimighe gave the assurance that the election would be a watershed in the state’s political history.

He said all the party’s aspirants would be given a level playing field to participate in the primary.

The APC chairman said, “On the September 22 primary of the APC, I want to assure the people of the state and Nigerians that Bayelsa would witness another success in the party.

“It is going to be a very peaceful primary where every aspirant will be given a level playing field to exercise their franchise.

“So, we are confident that the APC is prepared to win and change all things that need to be changed. We will occupy Creek Haven soon.”

He urged the people to file out for the APC and be resolute in the quest to change the current administration in the state.

He stated that the APC remained the only viable platform available to the people of the state to realise their political destinies.

He added, “In the APC, we believe in internal democracy and level playing field for all those who aspire to elective offices.

“Bayelsans have seen that in recent times that the APC is now the only party for them to dream if they want to dream and aspire, if they want to aspire.”

In its reaction, the PDP described as laughable the comments by the APC chairman, saying the APC was dead on arrival in Bayelsa.

In a statement in Yenagoa on Sunday, state Secretary of the PDP, Keku Godspower, said the comments of the APC chair was bereft of knowledge.

The statement noted that the choice of either Timipre Sylva or Timi Alaibe meant that the “APC is dead on arrival.”
