Nigerian troops rescue several young girls, women and children from Boko Haram's den

As Nigerian troops continue their deep and aggressive advance into Boko Haram terrorists’ dens in the epicenter of the counter insurgency operations, scores of young girls, women and children who were abducted, were on Monday rescued from the sect.

A statement confirming the development signed by Colonel Sani Usman, acting Director, Army Public Relations, said, “Nigerian troops advancing to clear all known Boko Haram terrorists camps towards Banki, Kumshe axis and Bama axis have cleared 4 more camps earlier today.

“They were able to clear the terrorists’ camp at Bolungu 1 and 2, Bula Doye and Cheehi Dare and secured a very important bridge linking the towns of Miyanti and Banki in Borno State.

“The gallant troops also rescued dozen of kidnapped women and children held captive by Boko Haram terrorists.

Continuing, Usman said, “The clearance by ground troops and aerial bombardments by the Nigerian Air Force will continue till we reach the desired objective of defeating the terrorists.”

Recall that the Defence headquarters said Monday that with the level of offensive attacks carried out against Boko haram terrorists by the Nigerian airforce and ground troops and the flurry of mass surrender of the terrorists, there is indication that defeat of the sect was imminent.

Acting Director of Defence Information, Col. Rabe Abubakar while making the disclosure, pointed out that new measures being put in place to checkmate incidence of suicide bomb attacks were also yielding success, like the situation in Bauchi state when a suicide bomber attempting to blow up the Yankari Motor park, was arrested by troops before he could detonate the bomb.

Reiterating that the issue of insurgency in Nigeria will soon be the thing of the past, Abubakar pointed out that with the renewed commitment of the military leadership and the determination of the troops in the mission areas, the end to insurgency is around the corner.

He eulogized the heart-warming success of the brilliant coordination between the air element of the Nigerian Air Force and the ground troops of the Nigerian Army that has uprooted the Boko Haram insurgency from their strongholds, including their several camps in Sambisa forest.

Without mincing words, Col. Abubakar described as ‘unpatriotic act’, for any citizen, no matter under what guise; to carry arms against his/her own people and the country.

He called on the unrepentant members of the terrorist group to have a rethink, lay down their arms and abandon their strange and uncivilized ideology for the betterment of mankind.

Throwing more light on the issue of suicide bombings, Colonel Abubakar re-assured the public that the Defence Headquarters is re-strategizing to halt such inhuman activities.

An example is how a suicide bomber attempting to blow up Yankari Motor Park in Bauchi was arrested before he could commit his heinous crime.

He therefore appealed to the citizens to be on alert and conscious of crowded and populated public places including markets and places of worship.

He further charged members of the public to collaborate with the military and other security agencies in the supply of timely information that could assist the agencies to be pro-active in their resolve to contain insurgency.

  1. Those "rescued" were not kidnap victims. They are the wives and children of the insurgents, abandoned when their husbands/fathers could no longer protect or cater for them.

  2. TRUTH. THEY ARE THEIR WIVIES AND CHILDREN
