The Federal Government has announced the immediate suspension of the recent recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) conducted on the directives of the immediate past President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, between March and April this year.
A reliable NIS source disclosed that the Board of Prisons, Immigration, Civil Defence and the Fire Service has directed immediate suspension of every activity related to the recruitment until further notice.
To this effect, the NIS headquarters has instructed state commands and heads of training institutes to recall newly recruited persons sent for training at the Immigration Service Training Schools at Orlu, Kano and Ohoada.
Many job seekers lost their lives last year at a recruitment across the country, a development that warranted a Presidential Committee on Immigration Recruitment constituted on March 26, 2014 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
However, the recruitment was mired in controversies which was one of the reasons for the removal from office of the former Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. David Parradang.
Recently, the ill-fated recruitment also led to serious disagreements between the former Minister, Ministry of Interior, Abba Moro and David Parradang.
During the now suspended employment exercise, less than 5,000 Nigerians, including candidates of families that lost loved ones in the botched 2014 recruitment that resulted in the death of about 15 applicants were enlisted and sent for training to become personnel of the service.
Our source who spoke on conditions of anonymity disclosed that confusion has already set in since the circular from the board was received last week Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

The recruitment was not done on merit. It was done for their cronies and touts.
ReplyDeleteY rendering more people unemployed....wat kind of rubbish is dis...let us tell ourselves d truth, dere is no way we can achieve 100% transparency in dis exercise...dis cancellation is just done to enable d present pple in power put in dere own cronies....dats all
ReplyDeleteYour thinking pattern is corrupted. May God deliver you
DeleteGood move......i love this and i will advise that recruitment into all these paramilitary outfits should be done same time with same application......to remove double application. in other words if one applies for NIS, the same person cannot apply for FIRE SERVICE or Civil Defense or PRISONS SERVICE AND EVEN CUSTOM SERVICE.....this way corruption which has been the bane of recruitment into these agencies can be minimized if not eradicated by the presence of our No Nonsense President PMB.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Nigeria even as i am beginning to feel that the engine running Nigeria is about to Kick Start for the Past Sixteen years.
Bless you sir
DeleteI Thank God for this single act from GMB. All recruitment should be on merit and never on whom you know. There are so many Nigerians out there qualified and begging for Jobs, but can't have it 'cos they know Mr. NO BODY. GMB please remember the common and poor Nigerians in this your government.
ReplyDeleteIt might be a good move but I think the family members of those that lost their lives who were enlisted for training on the former President's directive should be exempted from this suspension.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you insist that the recruitment was not based on merit? Just because you weren't fortunate enough to be selected doesn't mean it wasn't based on merit at least 70% got the job on merit and that's why these sick government officials want it cancelled so they can take 70% and leave the usual 30% for the poor masses.
ReplyDeleteI thank God for the cancellation of the recruitment cause it wasn't based on merit. I was one of the injured and we were promised to be employed, but no one contacted us when they started the recruitment and anytime you contact them, they will tell us not to worry that we will be contacted before d recruitment, but nothing like that happened. Carry on PMB God is on your side.
