Fayose to Buhari - 'Stop making selective corruption fight'

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to probe all the past administrations, to prove "he has something to offer."

The governor also said the manner the president would handle the coming governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States "would determine if he likes democracy to grow in the country."

Fayose said it was unfortunate that despite the nation marking her 55th independence anniversary, her developmental strides had not been commensurate with her age.

According to a statement on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor called for the strengthening of core values for the country to take its pride of place among its peers.
He also called for greater commitment on the part of leaders to get the country out of the woods while lamenting the current economic situation in the country.

"But today calls for sober reflection, going by events in and around us. The situation has never been this bad in the country and there is nothing to celebrate.

"Our country is growing in age as an independent country, but there is no corresponding growth in values. Those who are supposed to help propel those core values are muzzling the opposition and the imaginary enemies. The current leadership in the country should have the courage to probe all the leaderships of the past. There should be no sacred cow if truly they have anything to offer.

"The mismanagement of yesteryears, especially since we started the Fourth Republic, should be probed. It will not augur well for our nation if we are selective in the dispensation of justice. Leaders must be equitable and fair to all. Everybody must be diligent in playing our parts. The current civilian dispensation in the country must be supported and allowed to thrive," he said.

The governor urged the Federal Government to address the dwindling economy and stop selective fight against corruption and the harassment of the opposition.

"If President Muhammadu Buhari believes in democracy, he will be judged in the way he handles Kogi and Bayelsa governorship polls," he added.

Fayose gave kudos to former President Goodluck Jonathan for the manner he handled the last general elections.

"Former President Goodluck Jonathan played his role and posterity will have a good place for him in history. He anchored free, credible and fair polls that heralded in the current leadership in the country. President Jonathan should be declared the hero of our democracy and a man of honour," he noted.

  2. If PTF is probed today, I'm sure there will definitely be revelations. Truth is bitter. Those who don't like Gov Fayose's comment should hug a live transformer accross the street. Surely what goes around Will come around someday and Nigerians will ask how much the current government has expended on the jamboree of overseas trip whose dividend includes and embarrasingly, missing a scheduled global meeting and not refunding the related estacodes.

  6. If this fool laments over the shaky economy, we need him to tell us if PDP was not responsible specifically GEJ that he is commending . There lies the shallowness of the Ekiti Governor, I expect the bulk of the refined and educated Ekitis to rescue this man from his depression.

  7. I am still wondering how the likes of Fayose becomes the ''Governor'' of a state like Ekiti (Beliefs to be the fountain of knowledge). That is politics made in Nigeria.
How does making noise all over and attacking the Presidency and Fed Govt policies translate to good governance to the people of his states. Why does Fayose not consecrate and focus his mind on how to better the life of his people.
Why is he not borrowing leave from the likes of Fashola who talk less and consecrates his efforts to the improvement of Lagos State.
I wish Fayose accomplishes would assist him in this direction. He enjoys talking senselessly and insulting the wisdom of his people and Nigerians at last.
Long live the Gov and Ekiti State. TP.

  8. This man is just seeking for attention, he has nothing to offer the Ekiti people, but wants to always be in the news. Despite all his rubbish comments, the President has ignored him yet he doesn't know when to stop, ok, continue

  9. Fayose continues to make sense inspite of his uncouth manners. As long as the fight against corruption is limited to those who were not on Buhari's camp prior to the elections then all hope vested in Buhari is dashed. OBJ, Amechi etc can not go scot-free simply because they supported Buhari. Buhari needs to realize that he is seen as the last hope of the common man and must guard the immense trust reposed in him jealously.
