The governor also said the fight against corruption as being currently prosecuted was mere noise-making, witch-hunt and harassment of perceived political opponents of the President.
He stated these in a press release on Wednesday as his position on the first 100 days of the President in office.
Fayose, while maintaining that the beauty of democracy was in credible opposition, said he would not go underground because of possible harassment and intimidation.
In a reference to public declaration of assets by the President, the governor said he would not, because of cheap publicity, deceive Nigerians with declaration of cattle herds and mud houses as assets.
Fayose, who agreed that 100 days was too short to assess a government, added that the only achievement recorded by Buhari's government so far was the harassment of the Peoples Democratic Party leaders and perceived enemies in his party.
"Former President Goodluck Jonathan and those who worked with him as well as PDP governors and leaders are now targets of harassment, and by this, the President is telling Nigerians that it does not pay to be honourable.
"Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was honourable enough to allow a peaceful transition and conceded victory to the President even though it was obvious that his victory was questionable. Visiting such a person and those who worked with him with persecution as being done now is no doubt a sad reminder of the reason we have many sit-tight leaders in Africa."
Fayose urged the president to reopen the Halliburton bribery scandal to demonstrate his commitment to fight corruption.
"While I am in total support of the fight against corruption, it is my opinion that corruption can neither be fought along political party lines nor through the media. What is being witnessed presently as fight against corruption is mere noise-making, witch-hunt and harassment of perceived political opponents of the president.
"This is more so that most of the political allies of the President and those who sponsored his election are also being accused of corruption and the president is looking the other way.
"Interestingly, some of those who worked with Dr. Goodluck Jonathan that the APC called thieves are now being appointed to manage the affairs of international organisations like the World Bank and African Development Bank."
The governor, however, commended the president for his efforts at ending the Boko Haram insurgency and called on Nigerians to support him in restoring peace to the ravaged North-East.

ReplyDeleteI DONT BLAME U BUT I BLAME EKITI PEOPLE 4 ELECTING SOME1 LIKE U AS THEIR GOV..NO DECORUM AT ALL.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what you people mean by calling Fayose a fraudster the court has declared him innocent of the changes against him by the EFCC. His critism of the president is highly constructive and that is what we need in this country and am happy that Fayose does belong to the group of cycophants that sing praises of the public office holders when they are doing the wrong thing due to tribal, religious or political affiliation.
ReplyDeleteIs Fayose sane?.
ReplyDeleteFayose is obsessed with Buhari, he's more concerned about trying to unsettle the President than showing more concern for the Ekiti people, shame
ReplyDeleteI respect Fayose any time any day. He no send you, he speak what is in his mind period and truth is bitter to some Nigerians for their political gain
