The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has threatened to drag Governor Ayodele Fayose before the anti-graft agencies, should he divert the N9.6 billion bail-out by the Federal Government meant for the payment of salary arrears and other entitlements.
The party alleged that the recent announcement by the governor that pensioners’ entitlements and other categories of workers were not captured in the bail-out cash was an attempt to divert the money to other uses.
The APC, in a statement in Ado-Ekiti yesterday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Taiwo Olatunbosun, warned that Ekiti people would resist the governor’s plan to divert the money to other wasteful use.
In response, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor vowed not to react to the APC allegation.
According to him, “We will not react to or elevate frivolous talks of the Ekiti APC.
“This week when the Ekiti workers are paid the August and September 2014 salaries and the deductions owed them, the Ekiti APC will be put to shame because Ekiti people will hate them more.
However, the APC said Governor Fayose’s failure to declare the breakdown of the bailout publicly will lead to employing the instrumentality of the FOI Law to demand for same at the Central Bank and DMO.
“We also put the CBN, DMO, EFCC and ICPC on notice to monitor the governor in the disbursement of the fund to ensure compliance and apply sanctions when necessary,” he said, adding that the action becomes necessary to curb diversion of the money.
Olatunbosun, urged the governor to publicly declare the break-down of the bailout for transparent disbursement to right quarters. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
