We are not against recovery of any stolen funds by Buhari's govt - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has said it is not against recovery of any stolen funds by the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

Rather, it said the process of doing that must be transparent and that it must also be constitutional.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Jalo, said this in an interview with newsmen.

After Jalo spoke, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a statement, described as reckless, irresponsible and highly provocative, Sunday’s statement by the APC spokesman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, wherein the party bandied what it described as “imaginary figures against the previous administration to suit a heinous purpose.”

Metuh said the APC had again exhibited its emptiness and disgusting desperation for public approval.

Metuh said, “In trying to escalate their stock-in-trade of lies, wild allegations and falsehood, the APC failed to understand that their baseless fabrications are capable of throwing an unsuspecting nation into chaos.”

Stating that “the spate of fabrications by Lai Mohammed has become a sickening source of worry for well-meaning Nigerians including those in his party,” the PDP spokesperson called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC as a party to caution their spokesman before he plunges the country into crisis with wild and unsubstantiated claims.

Jalo, on the other hand, said, “We are not against probe, but let the rule of law be followed.

“Mohammed should also be able to prove the allegations he made in his statement that we have bribed people to write and speak against the probe.”
