Sponsorship drive: NFF plans to restructure its marketing department

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said on Monday it had taken steps to restructure its marketing department to meet the vision of the current leadership of the football house.

The NFF had sometime in July placed an advertorial in some national dailies for some key positions in the marketing department including that of its Director, Idris Adama.

Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the NFF said in Abuja that the advertorial was in pursuit of the NFF’s vision of opening up the football house for more sponsors.

“When we say restructuring, it’s not just the marketing department; the NFF is looking at the possibility of re-engineering and re-invigorating football in general.

“We want to beef up areas that we can, and areas we need to strengthen, we will do that.
“Marketing is one of the major areas that any football federation will look at because every activity there involves money.

“Government has been trying very well but there are some many other competing demands that make it impossible for government to meet the demands of sports in terms of money.

“That is why the NFF is looking at the possibility of beefing up the marketing department so that it will become more vibrant and able to attract more sponsors,’’ Sanusi said.

Sanusi said that the NFF resolved to beef up the its marketing unit to attract more sponsorship for its activity because of government’s inability to meet the entire need of the football house.

“We have hospitals, roads, agriculture, power and so many other things and government is making sure that no sector suffers and that is why we need to work with private sector.

“We need corporate and private individuals to key into the sponsorship of football.’’ (NAN)
