Plateau ex-dep gov defects to APC

A former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State, Mr. Jethro Akun, has dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress.

Akun was also the deputy governor of the annulled Michael Bot-Mang-led administration.

The late Bot-Mang was the state governor when the then Governor Joshua Dariye was impeached by six out of the 24-member State House of Assembly.

Dariye was later reinstated following the ruling of the Supreme Court, which declared his impeachment illegal.

He hailed from Bokkos Local Government with Dariye.

In a statement signed by him and made available to our correspondent in Jos on Wednesday, Akun said his decision to leave the PDP was borne out of personal conviction.

In the statement on Wednesday, Akun said, “I write to withdraw my membership of the PDP with immediate effect for personal reasons. I wish to however thank all those who have assisted me during my service in various positions I have held within and outside the state.”
