The Dutse Local Government Council of Jigawa, said on Wednesday that relief materials were distributed to 316 Internally Displaced Persons taking shelter in the area.
The Information Officer in the council, Malam Ya’u Garba, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Dutse.
Garba said that the items were provided by the National Emergency Management Agency.
He explained that the distribution was supervised by the council’s Vice Chairman, Alhaji Zubairu Garba, and the HOD Welfare and Social Development, Alhaji Ado Amadu.
The Secretary of the council, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad, who addressed the beneficiaries, told them that the gesture was to reduce their suffering and hardship.
The items distributed include: 60 bags of maize, 60 bags of rice, eight jerry cans of groundnut oil, six bags of sugar and six cartons of indomie noodles.
Others were, 120 pieces of textile materials, six cartons of canned tomato, 15 pieces of mosquito nets, 150 pieces of mats and 10 mattresses.
One of the beneficiaries, Ado Wangara commended NEMA, and the officials of the council for the gesture.
