Blesssing Okagbare vows to redeem self in 200m after 100m failure

Blessing Okagbare said she is ready to make amends for her dismal showing in the women 100 m as she prepares to run the 200m heats today at the IAAF World Championships.

Okagbare, had a miserable start on Monday and she was left to struggle from the blocks. Prior to the race, she had the third best time of the season a 10.80 seconds, but she could only manage 11.02 in a very and competitive race won by Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce at 10.79 seconds.

She said that she has shaken off the cobwebs, adding that her aim is to win a medal just like 2013 in Moscow.

“”I will regroup and get ready for the 200m which starts on Wednesday.

“You work hard, train hard, put your best foot forward and go out there to proudly represent your country.

“Sometimes it all comes together for you, and on other days like today (Monday August 24, 2015), it doesn’t,”Okagbare posted on her social media forum.

Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) technical manager, Yussuf Alli posited that the African and Commonwealth sprint champion will bounce back.
